    My understanding is that it needs to be done approx. 6 years before the likelihood of going into a home. I know two people who have done this with no problems.... but it requires some foresight and a lot of trust in your family.
    Remember the mantra:
    NEVER communicate by 'phone.

    Send EVERYTHING by Recorded/Special Delivery
    Keep a copy of EVERYTHING sent
    Keep hold of EVERYTHING received

      pretty much apply the same rules as you would avoiding inheritance tax. Do everything 6 to 7 years before you think a problem might crop up. Obviously you cant foresee the future though which is the prob.
