credit referance agencys and data protection

    just a thought but can you ask a credit reference agency to take all data held on you off there records,if so in theory that would wipe your slate clean, any one got any thoughts on this
    at the start of this journey i owed
    £52000.00 UNSECURED £5000.00 SECURED
    £0000.00 secured debt as of 17/12/2010 fingers crossed
    on 14/07/2012 i now have £32.000 unsecured and £15.000 unenforceable [thanks to niddy and aad ]
    as of 17/03/13 its now £26K AND £15K UE
    ITS COMING DOWN SLOWLY WHILE STILL ENJOYING MY LIFE

    No you cannot ask such! This is what is known as a s.10 (DPA1998) - s.10 is simply "Cease & Desist" (from processing your data).

    Unfortunately though as you gave your authority to the lender to share data, and being the lender is the data controller - it is up to them if they do it or not, and cos you signed the waiver (by signing the app form) then the data will remain. Even if they say no agreement can be found, the data remains cos it is easy to prove that they (the lender) requested authority - they all do/have done so for many years.

    The CRA's are simply a data processor - i.e. they process data supplied to them from the controller (i.e. the lender) so all queries must be agreed with the controller. Make sense?

          I do like your thinking Wishfullthinking but as Nid says it is only that....Wishfull Thinking.
          Started with a debt of £18,323.68 in May 2005. Everything now paid off but trying to sort out credit file now which is shot to bits. Now begins the journey.
