I think the most trouble we had in London last night was from the vigalantes.... In Eltham the Lovely EDL were out force..........

Yesterday I personally think that there was a lot of scare mongering going on - just to get everything shut up early and people home and off the street.

Terrible scenes over the rest of the country xx

          Hi All,

Reveille sounded early today and I missed it --- crashed out. Glad everyone is safe.

Phil, you are welcome we are only across the water or around the corner you might say! I think that everyone here on AAD would offer safe haven to our fellows in trouble. That is the way this site, in general, operates I believe.

And Oscar, we are on the NW coast in Denbighshire in Rhyl actually.

To reinforce what Handy and Pompey have said, there was an infamous interview a few years ago, decried by our weak kneed politicians, psychologists and assorted hangers on which was conducted with the Commanding Officer of the Military Corrective Training Centre, Colchester. He had accurate figures and data at his fingertips. The re-offending rate after a spell at his establishment was less than 5%, whilst the re-offending rate from civilian prisons was in excess of 80%. No one was able to refute those figures. Says it all.

Interview this morning on radio with one 16year old Manchester oik. I will keep on doing it until I get caught and then some. The prisons are overcrowded what are they going to do-- give me an ASBO and I can live with that.

Huh they need to remember that several ex Soviet prisons still stand in what was Eastern Europe where we send terrorist supects to be tortured and Aushwitz still stands.

However backing off from the extremist point of view there is in fact quite an easy answer. Make them do national service maybe not in the armed services but how about a disciplined Land Army? They can only eat and drink a very tiny percentage of what they contribute by way of labour in planting and harvesting for example potatoes and food crops by hand, bending their sorry little backs until they break. Well we are short of food aren't we? All of the "set-aside" land and wasted land at the side of motorways and the like could all be brought into good use using free labour.

And before anyine jumps on the high horse about the UN charter on slave and prison labour, just remember we trade with China which has a record of this yet we do not embargo their goods as is required under the UN charter.

          rant over for now.
          regards
          Garlok

Hi Garlock, I can agree with your comment on Colchester. Having once been there. Not to stay but to deliver a poor chap who had got into a bit of bother in Germany. Me and my mate were glad to get the hell out of the place, we were bawled at and marched about and we were only on escort duty.

If the Civie nicks were run along the same lines, these young hoodies would run a mile. Even Regimental Punishment was bad enough. (something Handy was an expert on )

              Regards all, Handy.

From what I've read locally, it is alleged that the men killed were not rioters but local men trying to protect their area.

Somewhat of a reversal on my suggestion!

No doubt intent on protecting native, white rioters from Asian shopkeepers?

Yeh Handy you and me both. When I took a young thug who had killed his mate with a bayonet over a Mombasa prostitute, Ian Hendry type of the film "The Hill" infamy complete with "slashed" peak appeared, and it was "Prisoner and Escort at the double!" Mind you he doubled as well. A very very salutory experience.

As such an assault could be lethal, one would certainly hope that nobody would misuse a riot shield in such a manner.

It would help nobody if policemen were to start killing suspected rioters.

No, not at all. This was a case of a motor car apparently having been driven deliberately at/into a group of pedestrians, which is what you advocated doing if Looloo had been confronted with rioters.

Or are you trying to argue that some murders are acceptable whereas others are not?

No CC, I am not condoning any murder.

I was (light-heartedly!) suggesting that if she felt threatened by yobs on her way home, blocking her path and acting in a threatening manner she could ram them out of the way in order to proceed on her journey.

I was not suggesting for one moment that she drive her car at anyone that happened to be walking along the road who served no threat to her at all.

But then, you are clever, so you know that!

The story is still unclear. In a circumstance where your car is surrounded everyone of us would act differently. Until it happens to you you won't know.

The best way of keeping out of trouble is to avoid it if at all possible.

If you think you are getting into a trouble spot, Drive Defensivly.

That is to say leave a car length between you and the car in front so you have room to manuever. Likewise try to time your approach to lights and junctions so you remain stationary for the least amount of time. Keep your doors locked and windows shut, and don't stop too close to the kerb.

If all else fails keep your car moving (slowly) don't panic but use the car to push the crowd out of the way, then when you are clear of obstruction Golf Lima Foxtrot till you are out of the trouble.
