    Yahoo mail

    Does anyone know if there have been problems with Yahoo mail

    Two people I know have had emails sent to some of their contacts at a time when they are not online. Could this be a virus on their pc or could it be a Yahoo issue.

    One runs XP with MSE and windows firewall the other Vista with the same

    sounds like the account has been compromised. I always advise people to go down the Gmail route and turn on 2 factor authentication. If a password were to get hacked they need to get past the second stage before accessing the account. It's free and reliable.

        I agree with Missy...I've a few accounts just set a GMAIL one up to grab from yahoo/hotmail etc far far better

        however wouldnt harm to virus scan anyhoo every so often

          Thanks guys. One is a friend of my mum's who is rather technophobic but will want to keep her email.She had someone out to look at her pc who said it was a virus. A few days before I had changed her router because it was disconnecting every 29 minutes and also downloaded all windows updates as well as MSE. During that process it set up a new user profile that were her initials @netframwork or something like that. When her email was hacked it got sent to everyone in her address book.
          The other is my OH who seems to have sent a link to my mum and someone else. He has vista with MSE.I can get him to change his password.
          Phil I am being thick here but can you use gmail but still keep your yahoo account... Is that safer and how do I go about setting it up...

            you can set gmail up to connect to your yahoo mailbox & bring everything into gmail for you

                Yahoo reported earlier to-day there were issues

                  I must be thick, I managed to set up an old aim account to be done by gmail but when I tried a yahoo address it told me the password was incorrect

                    Mine got hacked the other night, it sent scam email to everyone in my address book,
                    most people sent an email back asking if I'd sent it as it wasn't my normall "subject line type,
                    It's taken years of hard work to earn the capital N in Numpty
