I do remember winding up my "His Masters Voice Gramaphone" 2 doors at the top for sound, 2 sections at the bottom for records lift up lid, made of rosewood, given to me when my granddad got an electric record player.
You could regulate the speed of the 78's and latterly could buy long play needle's. When the spring broke about 45 years ago, had a job finding a replacement, but got one from a shop in hanley, then had to get the bob weight soldered back on. Good old days.

My granddaughter is always asking me questions about the olden days, one night we were talking about computers, I told her that we did not have computers when I was a lad. Quite innocently she asked, how did you get on the internet in the olden days then granddad?

I am extremely busy so if you do contact me or need a reply to a forum post then use the email or PM features offered because I do miss things and get tied up for days at a time!
