  • PPI - Monument

    Hi all
This might sound like a stupid question so please forgive me if it is.
I had an old Monument card with a balance of around 6k. took the unenforceable route in 2010. It has just gone SB. So whilst filing all the paperwork away. I noticed a letter from them in 2014 about a payment break plan. Stating a refund was due but it had been set off against the debt. I paid no attention to this in 2014 as I was waiting for the SB date.
My question is can they offset the refund against the debt or am I entitled to a refund back to me.
    Thanks all
    R

They can offset. That's normal. Just forget about it now. It's gone.

That said, they couldn't offset if they'd sold it to a DCA. Only if they were still the account owners could they lawfully offset.

Thanks Niddy - i thought as much. Not too bothered about it as it's dead and buried now.
