  • Confused newbie

    Hi and hello to everyone.

Great site with loads of help and as such I am reclaiming PPI from a few organisations but have come across a slight problem.

On the template page it says to use a digital signature which I do anyway but also it says "Remember never to sign any cheque you may send". Now if the cheque is unsigned it is just a piece of paper so surely the bank or whoever will return the request as no payment sent, or have I missed something here?

I usually sign my cheques through the signature line anyway but is there another way?

    Any pointers please?

    Thanks

    Vos

      Hiya

You do not need to sign the cheque normally, it's for less than the 'checking' amount, so they'll get processed automatically and your siggy will not be checked.

Basically if you ask a mate to sign for you, or just do it slightly different then it'll be fine, but make sure you make it stand out to YOU as being different to your usual siggy.

Trust me, I sign SAR cheques (£10) Donald Duck, You're a Twat - all sorts and they have been paid.

I SAR'd Natwest who commented that "customer has signed cheque with 'you twats' - unsure what to do

It still got banked and paid though

haha - well if it's more than £25 they may get checked and then refused, and with HMRC they'll probably add a £100 fine on - lol so maybe don't do it with them

If it gets sent back don't blame me - but like I say my SAR in November went through fine

                          Good luck

In the envelope now and ready to go, no doubt it will soon come back if they pick it up - only the truth though, best of all I am sending it from another LTSB account as well, my wife has just heard me laughing as I did it and she thinks I am potty!!!

Is it ok for the SAR payment to be made in a postal order? just curious.
