              British Hospitals
              True Stories:-

              1. A man dashes into the A&E dept. and yells . . . 'My wife's going to have her baby in the taxi'.
I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the taxi, lifted the lady's dress and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly after protests from the lady I noticed that there were several taxis - - - and I was in the wrong one.

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxx , St.. Andrews Hosp. Glasgow

              2. At the beginning of my shift, I placed a stethoscope on an elderly and slightly deaf female patient's anterior chest wall.
              'Big breaths,'. I instructed.

'Yes, they used to be,'. . .... replied the patient..

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxxxxx, St.Thomas's Bath

3 One day I had to be the bearer of bad news when I told a wife that her husband had died of a massive myocardial infarct.. Not more than five minutes later, I heard her on her mobile phone reporting to the rest of the family that he had died of a'massive internal fart.'

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxxxxx Royal London Hosp.

              4. During a patient's two week follow-up appointment, he told me that he was having trouble with one of his medications.
              'Which one ?'. . .. I asked.

'The patch; the Nurse told me to put on a new one every six hours and now I'm running out of places to put it!'

I had him quickly undress and discovered what I hoped I wouldn't see. Yes, the man had over fifty patches on his body!
Now, the instructions includes removal of the old patch before applying a new one.

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxxxxxx , Norfolk General

              5. While acquainting myself with a new elderly patient, I asked 'How long have you been bedridden?'
After a look of complete confusion she answered .'Why, not for about twenty years - when my husband was still alive.'

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxxxxxxxx- Maidenhead Royal Kent

              6. I was performing rounds at the hospital one morning and while checking up on a man I asked . .. .....' So how was your breakfast this morning?'

'It's very good except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can't seem to get used to the taste.'. . Bob replied.

I then asked to see the jelly and Bob produced a foil packet labelled 'KY Jelly.'

Submitted by Dr. xxxxxxxxxxx . Bristol Infirmary.

              7. A nurse was on duty in the A&E when a young woman with purple hair styled into a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting a variety of tattoos, and wearing strange clothing, entered. It was quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she was scheduled for an immediate operation. When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green, and above it there was a tattoo that read .. . ...'Keep off the grass'

Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's dressing, which read 'Sorry . .. . had to mow the lawn.'

Submitted by Staff Nurse xxxxxxxxx, KGH London

              Dr. wouldn't submit his name

DVLA act unlawfully whilst losing your letters and blaming you for it
                May 5th, 2010 ; -

Many companies act like complete arseholes when correspondence goes missing. The amount of times I haven’t been sent a letter or the postman has eaten it (or whatever they do with them), to be then chased up with a grouchy phone call has gone past the point of trying to remember a number.

However, most companies will concede and sort things out with you whilst you’re on the phone. Not quite the case with the DVLA who’s off-road notification system has been described as “a shambles” and “legally unenforceable” and in “administrative chaos” according to The Reg.

Two court cases suggest that the DVLA has been acting unlawfully and, despite what it thinks, doesn't have the power to push motorists around like they do.

In one case, the DVLA was seeking a judgement against xxxxx xxxxxx on the grounds that he had failed to notify it when took his vehicle off the road (SORN). However, Mr Collins had indeed notified them and in fact, it was the DVLA who had dropped a bollock by losing his details. The judge agreed that it wasn't Mr ccccccc’ fault and he shouldn't have to stump up the cash to send correspondence by recorded delivery or any proof of posting for that matter.

If that was the case, and us plebs had to send everything by secure means, then the same would need to be required of any organisation we dealt with and, of course, they wouldn't want that as their postage costs would go through the roof.

In another similar case, xxxxxx xxxx had a row with the DVLA over lost paperwork. The DVLA tried it on and said that Mr xxxxx should’ve rung them if he didn't receive any acknowledgement from them. Once again, the judge in question sided with the public saying that the DVLA have no statutory power requiring anyone to ring them.

This of course, doesn't stop the DVLA sending out bailiffs should anyone try to cross swords with it. These rulings could well be a serious blow to the organisation.

The simple fact of the matter is that the DVLA do lose mail and correspondence and are still seemingly happy to send out debt collection agencies even while complaints are under investigation.

This simply isn’t good enough from a company that pockets somewhere in the region of £10m per year from penalty notices.

A spokesman for the DVLA: “The DVLA does not impose any requirements for customers to obtain proof of posting or use recorded delivery in their dealings with us. However, and this is a key point, the onus is on the customer to ensure their off-road notification is delivered to DVLA.”

“With reference to non-receipt of acknowledgement letters by customers, there is no legal obligation on the customer to contact DVLA if they do not receive their acknowledgement letter. However, and another key point, we do advise customers to contact us if this happens so that we can confirm if their notification has been delivered to us or advise them otherwise how to comply”.

There are calls to have a more open and transparent appeal system concerning the DVLA as, currently, they are self-regulatory. With these court cases and apparently lack of sympathy for genuine mistakes, the DVLA could lose the support of all motorists.

Thank you for your email regarding the Defamation Bill.

I share your concerns about the potential for the Defamation Bill to be lost. Our libel laws are illiberal and outdated and desperately need to be reformed.

I have written to the Justice Secretary regarding you concerns and have urged that the Bill go before Parliament soon. I will write again when I receive a response.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns.

                    Yours sincerely

Simple Truths you shouldn't forget; -

                      SIMPLE TRUTH 1

Lovers help each other undress before sex.

However after sex, they always dress on their own.

Moral of the story: In life, no one helps you once you're screwed.

                      SIMPLE TRUTH 2

When a lady is pregnant, all her friends touch the stomach and say, "Congrats".

But, none of them come and touch the man's penis and say, "Good job".

Moral of the story: "Hard work is never appreciated."

FIVE RULES TO REMEMBER IN LIFE

                      1. Money cannot buy happiness, but it's more comfortable to cry in a Corvette than on a bicycle.

                      2. Forgive your enemy, but remember the ass-hole's name.

                      3. If you help someone when they're in trouble, they will remember you when they're in trouble again.

                      4. Many people are alive only because it's illegal to shoot them.

                      5. Alcohol does not solve any problems, but then neither does milk.

                      Bonus:
                      Condoms don't guarantee safe sex.
A friend of mine was wearing one, when he was shot by the woman's husband.

                            From Credit To-day article:-

a Financial Group has purchased the debt collection agency CCSG for an undisclosed sum, Credit Today can reveal.

The deal closed in the early hours of this morning (20 March) and sees Sigma take on the 81 staff and assets of Recodebt Limted, trading as CCSG.

A source involved in the deal told Credit Today the management team of CCSG would remain on board and the two firms would be run separately for the time being.

The deal marks Sigma’s second acquisition in as many months after its litigation subsidiary HL Solicitors bought debt recovery firm Incasso from the administrators of its parent firm, Cobbetts, in February.

Crucially, CCSG holds a place on the highly-coveted panel of DCAs which pursue unpaid tax debt on behalf of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

It also has an established footprint in utility and telecoms. Sigma has itself broken into the telecoms market after purchasing around 170,000 accounts from a mobile phone operator last year.

Tim Freeman, chief executive of Sigma, said: “We are very pleased to be joining forces with CCSG who have an excellent reputation with a very strong contingency client base.

“I have no doubt that the combined strengths of CCSG and Sigma will allow us to offer a broader product offering to a wider range of clients with the financial backing of a very supportive shareholder.”

Founded in 1973, CCSG has 81 employees operating from its own premises in Bromsgrove while Sigma has over 100 employees based in Redditch just eight miles away.

CCSG specialises in collections and credit control for utility companies, telecom companies and government agencies. The DCA also enjoys ”partner” status, meaning the company is a top 12 supplier, with the broker and analytics specialist TDX Group.

Sigma is backed by funds managed by Cyrus Capital Partners. As well as purchasing debt, it has developed an operating platform providing contingency collections services to blue chip clients, including major financial institutions, retailers and telecom companies.

Affiliates of Sigma have also invested in portfolios of non-performing consumer loans and have a £125 million facility to support this activity.

New EU rules on data protection could cost businesses across the EU an estimated €5 billion (£4.3 billion), the Credit Services Association (CSA) has estimated.

The Albrecht Report, which was issued by German politician and European parliament member Jan Philipp Albrecht, has proposed a ban on customer profiling as part of revisions to the EU Data Protection Regulations.

But the CSA argued that despite its efforts to protect the personal data of consumers, the report’s recommendations will leave individuals “worse off”.

It also suggested that the removal of customer profiling would fly in the face of “Treating Customers Fairly” rules.

The association, which represents the UK collections market, said that restricting the use of data and giving consumers “the right to be forgotten” will make it more difficult for them to access credit and for creditors to collect what they are owed.

Peter Wallwork, chief executive of the CSA, said: “If you restrict the amount of verified and reliable data available, you expose consumers to the risk of taking on too much credit and ultimately falling into debt.

“On the other side of the coin, a consumer who chooses to have the ‘right to be forgotten’ because, for example, they do not want to be contacted after visiting a particular website, may find that their request counts against them when they apply for credit as no information is held about them.”

It also warned that the cost of implementing the new directive may force many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into insolvency.

Wallwork added: “Based on the UK Ministry of Justice risk assessment, we estimate the cost to business across all 27 EU states will be around €5 billion – double the EU’s projected savings – much of which will be borne by SMEs at a time when economic recovery is fragile, at best.

“Smaller businesses will simply not be able to absorb these costs, and many, as a result, will be pushed to the brink.”

Last month, , a world-wide telephone survey was conducted by the UN. The only
                                question asked was:-

"Would you please give your honest opinion about possible solutions to the
food shortage in the rest of the world?"

The survey was a complete failure because:

In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant.

In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant.
In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant.

In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant.

In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant.

In South America they didn't know what "please" meant.

In the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant.

And in Britain everyone hung up as soon as they heard the Indian accent.
