  • Menopause/Blood in water

    Hi girls

If any of you ladies know please, please could you tell me if having a trace of blood in water can be anything to do with menopause?

    Thank you x

It's hard to say on that information alone Di. Have you seen your GP about it? I am having injections to bring on the menopause prior to having a hysterectomy next month and periods stopped after the second one (of four). Are you having any other symptoms?

Di, I can't answer your question, but with your problems get to the doctor/your consultant!

        Re: Menopause/Blood in water

        Thank you girls

I am under the Dr and my Specialist (Nephrologist) for this in case its down to my kidney disease.

The trace was found whilst I had a lab test and a dipstick test.

I am had a hormone blood test done last Friday along with the kidney function tests, but my Dr wanted me to have the hormone blood test due to the fact that I have been having the contraception called Depo provera for a number of years and says after being on them for a good length of time, these jabs can cause calcuim issues with bones etc, so see what the results come back as early next week.

With these injections, they can sometimes bring on early menopause. I do have the hot and cold flushes more so in the night, although its calmed down again now.

        Thank you my lovelies xx

....Also to add that I rarely had period with having the injection, that is common with these injections.

The blood found was not visible to the naked eye. xx

I also have my nephrologist appointment this coming Thursday, there was some mention as well by my GP of UTI but said it could mean a number of things, but forwarded the details to my neph in order for him to order further tests I expect, maybe a 24 hour urine collection that have not yet been done!
I did also have scans in August on my kidneys where they couldnt find anything.

So blood results are also due early part of this week.

No blood in the water isn't part of menopause but it can be common of an infection.

Statins do cause a heap of issues so i wouldnt rule it out.

Personally I have been very fortunate with Statins, been on them for 2 years now and I can say I've not noticed any side effects as a result of them.

                        Re: Menopause/Blood in water

Thank you all for your helpful input :-)

I have another thread in regards of statins on here too lol.

Back in Nov 2012 (last year) my cholesterol level was a little high, they put me on Simvastastins 40mg, but suffered horrific painful cramps, and I was also informed because of my kidneys not to drink tonic water.

So they left a bit of a gap until Feb this year and 2 tests proved my cholesterol is totally in normal range, but still had to go back on statins as its essential to kidney disease.
So they just changed them to Pravastastins at 40mg, and no probs at all but noticed tests results since not been that fab, especially when it comes to the urine tests where they were absolutely normal before going on them.

So this is something I shall be raising with my neph, as my Dr last week said to continue to take them and take it from my neph appointment this coming week.

                        Scary stuff lol x

                          Re: Menopause/Blood in water

Simvastatin can cause blood in the urine as a side effect, so perhaps Pravastastins is causing this also.

                          Simvastatin Side Effects:

Dizziness, fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, Bladder pain, bloody or cloudy urine, blurred vision, body aches or pain, chills, cough, dark-colored urine, difficult, burning or painful urination, difficulty with breathing, difficulty with moving, dry mouth, ear congestion, fever, flushed, dry skin, frequent urge to urinate, fruit-like breath odor, headache, increased hunger, increased thirst, increased urination, joint pain, loss of consciousness, lower back or side pain, muscle cramps, spasms, or stiffness, muscular pain, tenderness, wasting, or weakness, nasal congestion, nausea, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, stomachache, sweating, swelling, swollen joints, troubled breathing, unexplained weight loss, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting etc.

                              That is fab!

It is making me think as I never at all had these issues before being put on these stats.
