    Santander HQ evacuated after white powder sent to executives

    Santander evacuated the main building at its Madrid headquarters after envelopes containing white powder were sent to senior executives. Santander, Europe's biggest bank by market value, said it had called in Spain's Guardia Civil police and its specialist unit dealing with chemical threats as a precaution, and was sending off the envelopes to be analysed. The Guardia Civil later revealed on Twitter that a preliminary investigation of the incident pointed to a false alarm......Read more here

    The story doesn't say whether the white powder was suspected of being anthrax or cocaine.

    We await the result of the forensic toxicology report with idle curiosity . . . .

      "Un polvo" (a powder) has a completely different meaning in colloquial Spanish. Surely the post room scanning machines should have detected the substance prior to distribution to recipients, as in other large organisations.

        British bankers wouldn't have any trouble recognising cocaine.
