I was also working, talking to colleagues, on phone and updating posts here.

Trust me the days of men being unable to multi task are well gone!! I think I'd even give a trained secretary a run at typing wpm

      Maybe I'm just sad

      * women can fart & pee at the same time; is that what you call multi-tasking?

You need to complain (formally) via the phone, and explain that you last used the account 2yrs ago and as such it is their error and thus the normal rules suggest that the DWP will repay it (ie an overpayment) and then sort it later.

Benefit should be paid to the applicant and entitled holder of that benefit award, payment into the wrong account contravenes this simple policy and thus you need to demand they overpay you whilst they sort the recall from Nationwide as it was their fault they did not read the new claim form properly.

It should be easy to sort, yea - I am ex DWP btw
Rang DWP this morning and was told again that they cannot reclaim it and to go to NW.Did this knowing what they would say. Not prepared to give me money because of O/D. Rang DWP back and they said at least you've paid some of your overdraft off and advised me to get a crisis loan!!. Asked for a manager who was more helpful and will look into it and ring me back and advised me again to put in a complaint in writing. Oh i will be

Ermm tell this manager that as it was DWP's error they must put it right as the benefit has not been paid to the intended claimant and as they did not read the claim form properly it is nothing to do with you.

Then go on to say you will seek clarity from a benefit specialist solicitor as they are lying and treating you like a fool. Its kinda like you applying for JSA and them paying you ESA then trying to sue you for claiming the wrong benefit - errrm, ok that works

Seriously you DO NOT need to apply for any crisis loan, you tell them that they messed up and thus they need to reclaim it from the bank that you do not use. As for the comment about overdraft, make sure you demand that call is listened to as you will formally complain about that advisor (they'll get demoted to AA grade (from their AO grade)), it is simply not acceptable to speak to claimants like that). If you wanted to pay the OD you would, it is nothing to do with them and say that comment caused you grave concern and upset...

Ask for their HEO or SEO - the manager you speak to will be an EO grade; demand that they give the name of the department head and ask for the Senior Exec Officer's details to formalise your complaint. That will shake them up a little as they'll wonder how you know their grading/management system

Has someone (falsely) suggested I'd want to check the plumbing?

Will the HEO minute the SEO to admonish or chastise the AO?
