  • Re: BlueArmy UE Diary

Received a letter from mbna. Telling me my account has been over limit for 3 months and now they are changing the over limit charge from £12.00 to £0.00.

Just need them to stop interest charges now and that would be nice.

At least the postman came and went without leaving me bad news today.

U don't understand what they can do?

      1) Go on a DMP- they may still ask u 2 pay more
      2) Pay token payments- they may still ask u 2 pay more
      3) Follow UE, pay nothing- they may ask u 2 pay

None of the above routes are easy, but the people on here will guide & help u through it just pick 1 of the above.

I guess it's not the 'they ask you to pay more' that BA's concerned out, I think it's probably the 'what can/will they do when I don't/can't pay more.

For EN debts, there's not a huge amount of readily available info as to the what ifs/this is what happened to me. There is some out there, but it's often buried deep in threads about mainly UE debts. I have been searching myself as a lot of my debts are EN and it would be nice to get an idea of what's around the corner in terms of possible enforcement action and/or possible timescales.

I could be way off the mark here, but that's my guess as to where BA is coming from? .

          BlueArmy,
Ideally what do YOU want as an outome for this? There are various ways you could go, but it depends ultimately on what you want as an outcome.

The steps above outlined by Swanfan are the obvious ones that people use, however, there are many other options available to you.

There isn't much they can do.

At worst they send court papers at which point u back down and offer token payments as would be the case with Blue Army.

But that's what ifs. He needs 2 decide which route he wants 2 take.

Well, I want to rid myself of the weight around my neck. I know there is no quick fix. I want the debts gone as quickly as possible. Dont care about credit ratings anymore.

If I could pay I would pay, of that there is no doubt.

Without that miracle I am stuck with token payments.

I think its affecting my health although there is NO WAY I am gonna let them know that. Been for an ECG and blood tests. Trying to determine if my palpatations are stress related or thyroid/diabetes.

In a nutshell if I could click my fingers and be rid without the chance of borrowing another penny I would do it

But for now, I am stuck with token payments. I dont want to be dragged up in court as thats just too much for me. Its hard being so shy and quiet.

Has anyone who is NOT part of an organisation like Payplan or CCCS, but totally independent done a Common Financial Statement for you?

It would seem a DMP, probably mostly self managed, would seem a good way forward for you. However, it can be an enormous help to get an independent CFS completed, rather than just a downloaded IE sheet from a consumer site, as it carries a lot more weight in terms of persuading creditors to accept offers.

                Have you got a CFS?

Looks like the creditors are targetting my wifes accounts now. One of her cards (ASDA) got stopped today even though it was paid on time. minimum payment though.

Think we are both going to seek official advice together. No point in me trying to sort mine out and her still struggling to make the minimum payments. Might as well go it together.

good idea BlueArmy, I think it might have been mentioned before!!!!

seriously you need to sort the whole thing out, although I would be asking Asda why they stopped her card if it is up to date and has available credit?
however, its a wee blessing in disguise cos if you are in the poo with debt, its not a bad idea to stop adding to it, and it can be done, we went cold turkey with no credit 21 months ago, haven't starved or anything and pay for everything up front or we don't have it. Do you have anything that is related to the bank that runs Asda card (not sure which bank has it)

Santander is Asda. I have a card with them.

Which is most likely the reason for the hold.

But it really isnt anything to do with the wifes card.
We are going to phone for appointment next week. Not sure who to go to at the moment though.

one of the free ones for absolute definite, CCCS or Payplan, both do the job to get you started then you could self manage.
santander are not great at customer service but I'm not sure if even they would pull your wife's card because of the conduct of your account. Not sure what the legalitof that is, is there nothing else that she can think of?
                          have you phoned and asked?
banks can't just behave with gay abandon, they have to have reasons, and if they don't have a good reason, complain complain complain

Well it's just as well that Niddy and Paul aren't "shy and quiet" then. Have you ever read Niddy's threads and the way he enjoys (yes actually enjoys) kicking ass with his opponents? Hey I'm up to my eyeballs in debt, and I'm now managing the situation with guidance from this website. Welcome to my world. Trust me Niddy Skool works.

It's a standard contact us from MBNA when the account is in arrears.

                                Ignore it.
