Now DCA's are at the bottom of the Essential's list!!
Remember this because the global crisis is ESSENTIALS first.

A couple of quick questions if I may based on the above
Does the recent (or any previous) correspondence appear to combine the personal loan with the credit card?
Could there be assignment issues with either/both of these debts if there was a "switch" of lender as you say? Do you have the original NOA for each/both of these debts?

The credit agreement for this debt was deemed unenforceable by Niddy in 2018.
Your last payment was in March 2016 (and the account has dropped off your CRA file following Default over 6 years ago) so the debt should become Statute Barred in about three months time (you live in Scotland so 5 not 6 years).
The debt owner is Cabot Financial (UK) Ltd which doesn't have FCA authorisation so shouldn't issue legal proceedings (although that might not stop them from trying).
I think your decision to "date file ignore" is the right decision.
