    US singer and actress Whitney Houston dies aged 48

    American singer and actress Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48.
    The cause and the location of her death were unclear, her publicist Kristen Foster told the AP news agency. A family spokesman confirmed the news.
    Regarded as one of the most celebrated female acts of all time, Houston also enjoyed success acting in films such as The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale.
    But her later career was overshadowed by drug use and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
    Houston's background was steeped in soul and gospel music.

        Yes I read a load of comments on FB last night and many were jumping to a conclusion, the fact is the pathology report is not out yet and until we know that it is still to hard to say.

          whichever way its still despite her past a sad thing to happen....I did read a while back she'd been seeing her x husband for the sake of their daughter (she's apparently gone off the rails drink drugs etc)

            So sad. Maybe if she'd married a different man she'd still be with us, but who knows til all the facts come out. R.I.P.

              So sad, whatever the reason. One of the best voices of our time. Whether you love it or hate it, "I will always Love You" from The Bodyguard must be one of the best ever vocal performances. Stunning.
              Shame all the club acts and Karaoke queens murdered it!

                Her downfall started after meeting Bobby Brown.... who was jealous of her success (allegedly) and introduced her to the downward spiral of substance abuse...

                Such a massive waste of talent....

                  I love whitney and have been a fan for many years... she is only 1 year younger then my mom!!

                  In fairness its not right to blame Bobby, shes been divorced for 10 years plus and her substance abuse (despite popular knowledge) started before Bobby.. He just highlighted it.

                      We'll never know for sure but he certainly didn't help her get off it, whenever she started dabbling.

                        I remember she did admit to using before Bobby, As much as I love Whitney I am not shocked by this I am saddened.

                            Whitney Houston won an impressive 6 grammys in 14 years.

                            Less impressive was her recent attempt at 6 grams in 14 minutes.
