    If they are going to sell it how are they going to police it? The data is currently processed int he UK and the people processing it are often 3rd parties, who abide by the rules. For the most they have been operating of many years and have highly sophisticated security system to protect the data.

    If sold on, and the buyers are using offshore companies and inexperienced national companies, then there will be no data security. Seen it happen before when data is treated as data by numpties, sending CD by standard post, leaving files on the train and not locking offices doors. We may as well just remove all privacy laws, because we won't have any privacy.
