Dropped in for a little looky whilst being roasted in the heat here. it seems amazing that the DCA's keep banging the same old drum and I'm happy to see that, for the most, they keep failing miserably to actually achieve anything when presented with a reasonable and determined defence.
Long may that continue.
The few we have still sniffing around are following the same patterns over and over again and are firmly under our control as, as soon as we give them a contact address, they return the file to the Principal who won't take any action 'in-house' for such piddling amounts ( to them) as they have no system to do so.

We are still amazed at the simplicity of setting up a new life in a foreign Country and the, apparently, 'Oh well, they've gone' attitude of most Lenders. Long may it continue.
Here in Portugal, the cost of living ( away from the coastal areas) is incredibly cheap. There are many UK folk out here and those that have come here soon realise what they have left behind them and are able to finally relax a bit and enjoy life. Yes, some come to the opposite conclusion and crave the pace and consumerist hell that is the UK and go back but, hey ho, horses for course
We do keep an eye on what is happening in the UK and which Financial Institution/Lender is currently getting a kicking and enjoy it immensely when someone like Wonga gets caught with their trousers round their ankles....the 'pretend solicitor' thing was hilarious!

Anyway, keep up the good work AAD, the more people who realise just what can be done to stop the DCA's making money from fear and lies, the better.

You don't need to put up with the stress of debt, you can pay it off, fight it off or .....off. It is all possible with the right information.

Been a bit busy with building etc the last few weeks and we are happily having fun with a few DCAs and Principals that we need to keep happy-ish until we are ready to take the next step in our Financial Plan .
However, there are a few that have no chance because they are dealing specifically with me.....CRS/Scotcall for example....

Flights are quite cheap this time of year now that the Schools are back.
You'll need to hire a car as we are a good 2 hours from the nearest Airport.
You'll also need accommodation but as I have just finished the spare
bedroom I can offer that for, say, £259.90.
If you can get over in the next few days then you can help with the
grape harvest, but after the 25th we have guests for a couple of weeks
so you would need to arrange your own accommodation.
By the way, who are Month End Money ?

Save yourself some time, I know you don't like to get involved in
Complaints to the OFT ( the last time I had cause to Complain to you
about the big.black bully that turned up and trespassed etc at my
FORMER address, you dropped it like a hot turd, I suggest you do so
again as I can feel a real steamer building up.

If you are worried about whether your email has gone to the wrong
person, why does it contain personal information and a revelation of
indebtedness.

Piss off and stop breaking the Rules.

Another email from another name, this one from Stacey who 'really wanted to help' in April and then nothing until now. She says that I have not replied to ANY of Carter Foreskins offers.

My reply...

'Not heard from you'?....puhleeeze! Go ask 'Simon Singh about my last eMail........the one in reply to his lame Threat of Litigation.

I think it began with 'OK, now I am sick of you' and ended with the words 'treat this as a Formal Complaint',

You have 72 hours to apologize and confirm that this matter is closed.
You didn't even answer my email of 25th April.....Stacy! What went wrong, I thought I meant something to you and that we had a future.

....and who are Jack, James and Simon etc. I think you are toying with
my affections.

Oh, the relentless sun.....38C for the 4th day running and no sign of it letting up. Watering gets done before 7, then it's back to bed for tea and biccies.

Now, frankly, I am sick of you. This is now a Formal Complaint.

You have consistently failed to address any point made in any of my communications with your sorry little Company.

You and your Client cannot seem to make their mind up as to who is contacting me under who's name and regarding what particular matter. This is both confusing, harrassing and distressing.
You ( C..ter Foreskin ) even chose to contact me once as Tyford
Developments ( proof that you cannot spell ) which also seek to
confuse the matter. At no point have you ever acknowledged receipt of any communications from me.

You continue to make threats of Legal Action, in ever-increasingly large fonts, implying that you are able to take that action whereas you know as well as I do that that action is not able to be taken due to the appalling origination of the matter and your continuing and persistent course of ignoring any communications sent by myself.

You have sent, on numerous occassions, letters which seek to collect a balance of £..... no amount is given and this is a flagrant and, as far as I can see, intentional breach of the Office of Fair Trading Guidelines on Debt Collection. I wont quote particular Sections as I can only assume that someone who breaks the Guidelines so regularly must have an expert knowledge of them.....if you are going to lie, make sure you have the intelligence to do so.
You say that you have 'Defaulted' me and that you have advised two Credit Reference Agencies, then you try to make a 'settlement offer' ( of £...no amount, pillocks )to 'tell the Agency that the amount is settled' but make no reference to the removal of the ( imaginary) Default.
You have at no time sent me a properly constructed and executed
Default Notice and ( according to my own searches) you have not
informed any Credit Reference Agency. Again, lying.

I will re-iterate, big word I know but for you.....I will write it out again for you, this is a Formal Complaint against C**ter Foreskin AND your Client, Clash Genitals who, by association with you are as guilty as you are. It is made for the reasons given above and I will expect you to answer within the Statutory Time Framework. I assume that you know what this is, I do but you shouldn't need me to tell you.

Two days ago, we were sending them a similar length piece directly to them, but it had a distinctly different tone

Hi Pepe.
I love your posts - they are my first-choice to read on here.
I wonder just how many of us are talking about running away to the sun and never get to do it, we certainly talk about it often. You are quite an inspiration to some of us.

Have you the time or inclination to set-up a blog? I know we would be interested in reading/contributing (obviously, the move and the lifestyle, not your reasons for being on here).

Just a thought. Good luck and keep the updates coming.

There's a book here, what with our pasts ( those who know Keren from her MSE days will understand why, check the start of this thread ) and what we have been able to do.

We maybe wouldn't be too expansive about the 7 PDLs ( I WAS in a job etc etc ) but that serves them right. They know the score and have all rolled over and died at mention of a Formal Complaint.

All I would say is that life can be a lot easier if you are determined to let it be so, think about it, PLAN for it and stop listening to those who say you can't do it.
