It is interesting that they are making offers, though. That usually suggests that they are not entirely confident of their chances in a court room, or at least may have decided not to take it there for some other reason.

I always regard offers as being a highly positive sign.

I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

I, too, treat it as a positive sign. With caution, obviously. Why on earth would they make such an offer when they could quite simply take me to court and get the full amount? That is assuming, of course, that they know their arse from their elbow! Let's hope, for everyone's sake, that that assumption is misguided and they do not

I think in all honesty its because many choose not to go down this route, which i guess is for a variety of reasons:

Perhaps the people in the organization who would initiate court proceedings are few and far between and will have to walk the plank if they issue proceedings and get second prize.
          Cost and hassle for them
Unsure of the outcome (and if it will go in their favour)

and not forgetting that these are pirates we are talking about; so if someone will give them a box of silver - they will take it!

          Fingers crossed for you Bill.

Indeed. How many people in the same position toe the line and pay up when faced with their various threats. I suppose that it is a commercial decision of considering the potential cost of us AAD types against the probable gain of the ones that pay up. I suspect that they will have far more who pay up and, therefore, the awkward ones are a less significant proportion. Ultimately a legitimate business write-off as a bad debt. They have to be seen to chase it, though, otherwise I'm sure HMRC wouldn't be too happy with them just writing it off....

Suspect they also have to put us through the mill otherwise it would get well known you could run up debts and walk away.

If the little man got an inkling of that the whole debt laden world would be in trouble.

So they have to unleash the dogs even if its just to scare the majority.

Nothing personal to them just it is to us.

CSL have now written to me, Credit Security Limited, informing me that they have been instructed to collect the outstanding debt. This will be in the form of a doorstep collector. Think I'll pop the Harassment Threat of Doorstep-Visit - allaboutDEBT UK in the post

It'll be the first time that I've sent the doorstep template but this latest letter that I've received looks different from the others. Not that I'm particularly bothered about someone at my door if they really want to come but my OH might be! It also contains the word 'will' rather than 'may' in the text Also, they are a new crowd to me - has anyone had any dealings with this lot?

we have, but then we've had dealings with bloody everybody

this mob's grammar is slightly better but they still are beating the same dead horses, just watch the letters and keep the paper trail nice and pristine and don't worry!

Ohhhh, it's a long time since I've worried! What can that possibly do apart from make you ill? It doesn't mean that I'm any happier about being in this situation than I was at the start. Obviously I'm happier with how it's all going at the moment but, with all due respect to everyone on here, I'd rather not need to be here in the first place. I do, as do a lot of others, and it is absolutely fantastic and the reason that I am happier with the way my situation is going. That's thanks to everyone on here

My technically NW account due to 4 sets of terms being sent. I sent the doorstep template as CSL were threatening it. They have now replied thanking me for my letter and that they will communicate in writing but they only threatened that because I'd ignored them before these latest threats. They say that they are looking forward to my repayment proposals

My 100% Tesco card - another copy of the letter I received recently for another account from Wescot only with different details. Still scary red background with DOOR STEP COLLECTION NOTICE on it. I think I'll send them another copy of the Harassment Threat of Doorstep-Visit - allaboutDEBT UK I'll leave it a week though - waste a bit more time
