Yes, that is correct. The Halifax one is only my joint current account so is achievable. The other is my mortgage and I definitely have to pay this one. Mind you, what are they going to do? Add it to my mortgage? The rate we have got is 0.99% above base tracker so they can do that if they want

      my mortgage is with barclays
they just sold one debt of 5000+ to marlin
other b/card, an ex mint card for 10,000+ is still with them..1 yr to SB
      never have their paths crossed.
I would stop paying and get the interest stopped.

        Hi Billy,
They shouldn't take money from a joint account to pay a sole debt, see here:
issue 40 - banking: firms' right of

However if you're going into battle with them I'd still recommend opening a parachute account elsewhere if Halifax is your only current account. This company thinks it can do as it likes, and my 20 year history with them is riddled with admin errors across various accounts which we're still arguing over.

Yes Elsa, I have had a look at that.It seems to me a bit of a lottery but the thing is, with my joint current account, there is very rarely any credit in the account. I try and leave it in a neutral or slightly positive state as they charge a daily fee for being in overdraft. With the mortgage account, I don't know what Santander's usual response is to this kind of situation so I'm a bit in the dark really. Being my joint mortgage has made me ultra cautious hence the inaction on the card.

Do you get paid in a lump sum monthly as so many people do? If so, then you are still at great risk of the money being misappropriated before you have the chance to move it or spend it.

I would still open a different (safe) account into which your income would be paid. You can switch money into the main account just to make sure any Direct Debit bills are covered on time.

SH, I am self employed, or rather I am the sole employee of my own limited company so sort out my own payment into whichever account is best, usually the joint account. I keep an eye on what goes into and out of the account so as not to attract too many daily charges. I think that I am correct in saying that if the organisation choose to exercise the right of ROSO then they cannot do so if it will send the account concerned into an overdrawn situation. This is my main concern that I make an error in calculation and they take any spare funds that happen to be in the account. I assume that this would also reset the SB clock.

Your an employee of your own ltd company, so just draw your salary from the business account. No need to pay it in to a personal account.

If the business account is with the same lender, they cant touch it for personal debts.

The business account isn't my concern, rather my mortgage account. I have an Asda card that was taken on by Santander. This is definitely but I have no problem with paying it. The only problem that I do have is that they have racked up the interest rates so I am paying virtually no capital back on the card. The same can be said of my card I have with Halifax, whom I also have a joint current account with. This prompted the question regarding ROSO. This is probably , again I have no problem paying it if I ever got to reduce the balance. I agree that the best course of action would be to just stop paying but before I do that I would like to explore the possibility of trying to get them to freeze interest in a more formal way. I am in the process of sorting out my I&E to send to the two companies concerned, though only Halifax have requested it at the moment. I am still to hear off Santander.

Well, well, well. As I have said Halifax replied to my request for them to stop interest by asking me to fill in an I&E. I still haven't done anything tbh but the minimum payment is due any day and I am leaning towards not paying. Santander on the other hand haven't replied to my letter. However, my latest Santander statement has arrived and it states that "Estimated Interest next month = £0.00". Also, the minimum payment, which is normally around £100, will be less; 1% of the balance as it happens. I'm presuming that this is them agreeing to my request to freeze interest for 6 months. I am leaning towards paying this because they appear to be playing ball.

My NW with a totally illegible CCA. Last sent them the one-liner to tell them to try actually reading what they are sent. They say they have answered my request in full and have given me until 4pm on 4th June 2013 to agree payment terms otherwise they are instructed to issue proceedings without further reference

I would be sending them the illegible document received, from the template library.

They had that back in January Vint. That is the document that I have been trying to get them to read ever since with the one-liners. I'm wondering if I use a different approach and ask them what a certain part in the document states? It may then hit home to them that it *is* illegible

I have today received three letters:

                              1) A REDUCED SETTLEMENT OFFER from Wescot regarding my 100% Tesco card. Think I'll ignore that one
                              2) A DOOR STEP COLLECTION NOTICE on a scary red background. This is for my NatWest card that they sent 4 sets of terms for! I sent the "Sold in Dispute" letter back in March. Tempted to ignore this one, too

                              3) My two cards that I was still paying until this month; I wrote to them both asking them to freeze the interest which Halifax wouldn't without an I&E being sent in. I haven't paid and I haven't sent anything in. The Santander card they didn't reply but appeared to be playing ball because my latest statement stated that the interest was £0. They have now written to me demanding an I&E also, stating that the freeze of interest is only for 30 days to allow me to complete an I&E. They say otherwise the account will be returned to the collections department. I've been paying it every month, numpties so how could it have been with the collections department? Not any more, though. Should have done it ages ago I know. I'll use the money saved to put towards a F&F if that's the way it pans out

My Amex card - Settlement Offer. If I pay by just over a month's time, they will reduce the balance by about a third. Now then, I wish I had a spare couple of grand knocking about
