    Hi im in arrears with my mortgage and have been issued with a claim against me in the local court but they have spelt my name wrong, has anybody got a clue what this would mean.

    If it's only a typo they could re-issue with your name spelt correctly.

    If this is a summons for possession then I would give Shelter's free helpline a call since they can sometimes send a representative to the hearing 0808 301 8830 or better still they'll negotiate with your lender to get the matter stayed.

    You may be entitled to Legal Aid if you are on benefits.

    And you may be entitled to have the interest on your mortgage paid by the DWP in some circumstances.

    How many months is the mortgage in arrears?

    Are you able to make the current monthly payment but struggling to pay off the arrears on top or not able to pay anything?

    Is this a repayment mortgage or interest-only?

    Do you have any equity in the property?

    How long is there left on the mortgage term?

    Sorry for so many questions but there are ways to save your home from repossession which should only be as a last resort.
