    I am not registered on the electoral roll and have been refused a credit account (current acc) with Halifax Bank

    would registering on the electoral roll make a difference to there decision, my credit rating score is 907 which I believe is good.

    We have 3 credit cards, with a approx total of £8500 debt on them.

    The main one is for £7400, the others are just over £200 and £800.

    We also have 3 catalogue debts of £440,£887 & £1023.

    A friend has a credit card that they want to pay off and they no longer want the card.

    Is it "best" to:

    chop the card and pay it off and then close when the balance hits zero ?

    ask the credit card company to close the account...
