  • Need advice about a fraudelent insurance claim against me

Hi Gents. I'm in a right old mess and need some help. I'll keep the story simple.

Car went into the back of me whilst i was at some traffic lights.
Caused lots of damage to his but non to mine due to my heavy duty chrome bumpers. I didn't get his name or registration, but he got my reg number. His insurance have contacted mine and he's blaming it on me stating i reversed into him along with false witness and a personal injury claim. I want to take it to court and call his bluff, but not sure if my insurance would be willing to do that without a witness defending me.

So where do i go from here? My plans are to contact the insurance fraud hotline, contact the police and visit my local citizens advice bureau. Is there anything else i can do to nail this sucker? A copy of the false witness report is on it's way to me.

Even if you had of reversed into him, a "personal injury" claim from doing so at a set of traffic lights sounds like a crock of shyte anyway.

This is not my area at all.... but did you report it to the police at the time?

**Edit**.... Just re-read your post and seen you're already going to the police.... :-) I would be inclined to do it sooner than later then and get a ref. number from them to pass on to your insurance company.

Most lights - especially at junctions have cameras that feed to the town centre control.

(That's how coppers find you when you run away from causing bother in town for example)!

I'd be asking the polis to view said footage

The shame of it is, some insurance companies will pay out as its cheaper than defending the claim even if they know its bollox.

But definately get a crime reference number, explain to the insurance company the real story, and fight it as much as you can.

Update: His false witness has retracted his statement due to my insurance's private investigators pulling his story apart. The witness has admitted he wasn't there. The claimant's solicitors still reckon they have a strong case and are willing to carry on with court proceedings which i think is pish tbh. Let's see this fool in the dock getting sent down for perverting the course of justice.

I would have thought that suitable questions in court to the witness may well win the case for you! It should be moving towards a criminal case against the other driver
