  • Orange customers face big hike on iPhone insurance excess charges

Orange has hiked the cost of claiming for an iPhone on its mobile insurance policy by £35. New and existing Orange mobile customers will have to pay £50 instead of £15 if their iPhone is unintentionally damaged, lost or stolen from the beginning of December. The operator is also increasing the excess for customers with other handsets on Orange Care policies to £25. Orange wrote to customers last month to inform them that it would be changing the ‘£15 admin fee’ to a ‘£50 excess’ from 5 December, in line with other changes within the industry. A spokesman from Orange told This is Money: 'These changes have been necessary due to the increasing costs of insurance claims and we are contacting all customers affected.' 'However, we would like to reassure customers that we remain committed to offering the best price plans we are able to and even with these changes, Orange Care remains one of the most competitive offerings in the marketplace.'

    Yikes!
My son taken out a new contract with them about 7 months ago and he still not received any letters to confirm of the new charges!
Although I expect they have shown up on his monthly statement!
