Re: Natwest - can someone help me?

Thanks Ken, I am in a panic although mainly just feeling foolish and don't think I will sleep well tonight, trying to work out how/where/when on everything, its all such a long time ago and I'm not sure if I can get all the details quickly enough, going to take afternoon off tomorrow I think and see what details I can confirm. Thanks again, your message is really appreciated.

Ok, as you clearly don't have the information to hand then simply send off the SAR as detailed here ---> allaboutFORUMS - View Single Post - Natwest - can someone help me?

And leave it at that for now. We need the dates, without which we're snookered so send that SAR and then update me when they reply and I can then tell you what to look out for.

As things stand we cannot argue write-off of the new £2k charges as I cannot argue enough for you as I am like you, totally in the dark!

Pointless taking time off work! That's absurd lol. Chill, send the SAR - simples. Do nothing else, do not talk to them or write to them - stick with us and we'll guide you correctly.

Ok thanks, bit nervous about not making contact with them with the 28 day threat thing but will send the letter etc and see what happens, are they likely to come back in time? Thanks again

stop worrying, their threat means nothing - trust me! Ignore that threat in totality, seen it 100's of times before and they won't take any action!......

Re: Natwest - can someone help me?

Hi Cookie and welcome to AAD

Please try not to worry, that's just a standard letter, and they won't whizz you into court after 28 days. It's just a threat of what may happen sometime in the future. It can take years!!! In your case you have a genuine grievance so I'd say never.
What WILL happen after 28 days is that the account will be terminated and the charges will therefore stop, which is good!
Then they'll write begging letters for ages trying to arrange a payment plan before even considering court.
However, that ain't going to happen as you clearly have a genuine grievance, and Natpest are in the wrong if they have not sent you regular statements and notices of arrears and charges.
Suddenly hitting you with this after no contact for 2 years is grossly unfair. They have to abide by the rules and treat customers fairly.

They have up to 40 days to supply the SAR, but it may arrive much sooner. If their collection department writes after 28 days we can soon do you a letter to make them back off, then once you have the SAR we can help you write a formal complaint.

Don't under any circumstances speak to them on the phone from now on. Keep everything in writing and let us know everything they send to you.

Many of us have been where you are now, nothing bad happened and we're still here

Re: Natwest - can someone help me?

So you know where I'm going with things, I want you to get a SAR so that we can get dates and then from those dates I will be able to sort you a letter to send back that basically argues you settled and closed this account at the time you last paid and anything above and beyond then is to be disregarded as the account should have been settled back then.

So whatever you do don't speak to them on the phone or write to them again without speaking to me first or you could knacker things up.

Trust us, we're pretty good at these things

Re: Natwest - can someone help me?

Thank you - I know they are doing it to frighten me, just a shame it is working! I'm sorry I didn't mean to mislead, they have sent statements etc and letters and I too have sent letters to them, they have acknowledged most of them with a 'go away' letter, ignoring my request for repayment of charges and freezing the account so no further charges would be added.

No worries, just my misunderstanding. Nonetheless they haven't treated you fairly.
I had a similar problem with Halifax and got them to refund the charges. They also gave me £150 for the distress caused.

Right, whilst I am in the mood, I have had a think back about other things and am not sure if I can proceed with any of these....
                    1. Mortgage - Unsure if I am paying any type of insurance, how can I find out?
                    2. Closed Mint Credit Card (Opened around 2007) - No statements anymore, how can I find out if I was paying PPI?
                    3. Already tried to reclaim from Virgin but was told that I didn't have a case, can I revisit this?

By the way, I think you are all brilliant, wish I had known about this site sooner!

You send a SAR like the other one you're sending, with £10 to each of the companies and just ask for info at this stage. The statements confirm any PPI usually

Re: Natwest - can someone help me?

Hello, I have still not received the information from the SARS letter - they have written several letters saying they can't find a credit card account, mortgage account etc and then I received a letter saying that my signature doesn't match the one on the account! Not sure what to do with that, can anyone advise please??

Then today I have come home to a 'formal request for payment' letter.

Help, I don't know what to do now!

Did you have a credit card and mortgage account? If not fine, ignore that.

Regards signature, you'll have to try and remember how you signed, or send a copy of some formal ID such as driving licence/passport (just a photocopy).

The formal payment letter, ignore that for now. Has the £10 payment you sent for the SAR been cashed?

Hi, thanks Niddy - I think I had a credit card, would've been around 11 years ago though and I have no records of that anymore, didn't have a mortgage so that's fine.

I sent a postal order with the SARS Letter so don't know if that's been cashed.

The letter was 'digitally signed' - should I have actually signed it? Should I send another letter, signed this time then confirming that it is me requesting it??

                            Thanks again for your help!

Hmmm yea just reply to their letter asking about signature and just say "see signed authority below"....

It's fine to sign for a SAR.

Ok will do that tomorrow then, should I send it recorded delivery?

Also, they have now taken a letter that I wrote before I contacted you as a complaint, which they are investigating - I have received a letter saying 'sorry you are not satisfied with the service' and a little booklet asking me to respond to questions e.g Details of complaint, has this created issues for me, how would I like them to fix it etc.

I have not responded to this, should I?

                                Thanks again
