  • Halifax and their bizzare DPA nonsense

So as some of you may know, I run an accountancy firm.

Anyway, we get a phone all today from the Halifax asking us to confirm an applicant is a client of ours.

The conversation went something like this.

    Me: Hello?
Him: Hi, oh, sorry, I think I have the wrong number.
    Me: Ok! no problem...
Him: Wait! is that (insert company name)?
Me: Yes it is, how can I help?
Him: We have been given your company by an applicant, and they say you are their accountants?
    Me: Ok?
Him: Can you confirm you are the accounts for our applicant?
Me: Well, who is the applicant?
Him: I cant tell you that..
Me: So how do I confirm anything with out a name@
Him: Oh, um. Its okay, you have confirmed you are (company name) we can use that.
Me: Well no, because I can not confirm nor object to being accountants for a person who you can not give a name for.
    Him: Oh....um....ok thank you...good bye.
    Me: Bye bye!

Its conversations like this that make you doubt the human race.

It's conversations like that which make me doubt the Halifax and Lloyds' decision to buy them
