Getting in a spin: Why washing machines are no longer built to last

Remember that old washing machine you bought back in the 1980s? The one that seemed to go on for ever?

And then there was the one you bought only a couple of years back, which seemed to give up the ghost more quickly than an ultra-fast spin cycle.

yep, its like a lot of other things these days: couple of years and chuck them in the bin!

I remember someone coming to my grandfathers house in a van to repair the TV!
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

Well my washing machine is 8 years old and my TV must be 15 years old ex rental model. Both work perfectly.

The more gizmos and gadgets the more to go wrong
