    Heard this on the new in my car today, Fair play to M&S though as I am sure they did not have to honour the miss-quoted price.

      no they dont im afraid,

      A item on display is often considered an invitation to treat in contract law. Thus an invitation to treat is not an offer open to be accepted. ( see partridge v Crittenden ) so the problem is the store does not have to sell at that price.

      However, if the offer is open to the world and is open for acceptance as an offer, then it can be accepted on those terms displayed ( see Carlil v Carbolic smoke ball)

      So its not as clear cut as it may first seem

        However, the contract was completed it seems in these cases, therefore i would say they do have to sell at the contract price agreed.

        Id sue for damages if i were the person faced with that problem,
