Councils across the country are under fire for this now, in this area you could never find a parking space or even a space on a council car park, then a giant Tesco opened and set a 2 hour free parking limit, now you can park in any council car park anytime including Saturdays with ease, the council told Tesco to start charging for parking but Tesco said no, end of story. The traffic wardens around here ride around on little motor bikes and can ticket your car in under 3 minutes.
Councils tried to get everyone to use the buses by making everywhere pedestrian and reducing car parking, fine if you live in London but elsewhere it was a ridiculous notion, now we have vast out of town shopping malls with free parking while the towns are dying around us and the councils couldn't care less.
