Re: New and confused
Hi Pixie. Hope you're well. Yes i am very glad but must admit it takes some getting used to and some days i actually feel disappointed when the postman walks past our house.. i know i know, i don't get it either, just feels weird not to be doing anything sometimes. Not complaining though and definitely dont want him to start visiting again

Just feels really strange cos i've always had it drummed into me that we must keep in contact and pay at least £1 else they'll huff and they'll puff and they'll blow our house down, after they've pinched the doorstep!! Well that method didn't work for the last 12 years but so far thanks to you all this one is

Re: New and confused
Found all this out much too late and feels like our lives have been on hold all that time. Better late than never though!!Originally posted by FlowerpowerThe problem with paying £1/month is that the debt never goes Statute Barred! Token payments never clear the debt either so it's really neither here nor there, they are intended as a short-term solution for people temporarily in financial difficulties but don't work in that context either; you get a mark on your credit record just as if you did't pay anything so there's hardly any incentive to go back to normal payments even if your circumstances improve. Also people do get taken to court whilst sticking to their token payments so really not much point.

Re: New and confused
Which, if one wished to be pedantic, does not exist in the UK.Originally posted by FlowerpowerDespite it being Statute Law, the official channels don't want us to find out about the Statute of Limitations.
There are actually two laws:
Under the 1980 law, the limitation period is six years but, under the Scottish Law, the period is only 5 years. Furthermore, under Scots Law, the obligation to pay the debt is extinguished once the limitation period has elapsed.
Was that on the green site?I have seen a CCCS advisor on another site talk about setting up a repayment plan for a SB debt 'because the debt still exists'.
One might wonder at times whose money they hope to save.

but that ain't the point, the point being that sam's mum was getting shyte advice on the green place
AAD works as a team to bring folks on here who are being set at a disadvantage on other sites, not just MSE, who have slid down hill at a remarkable rate and give too much time to banks/dcas and eejits.

Re: New and confused
It sure was.I'd been on a dmp for 8 years and wasn't even half way through. Couldn't manage it any more through illness and creditors wanted blood...Luckily for me you saw me struggling and told me about UE and a certain man called Niddy and the rest is history!!Originally posted by evenlessdopey View Postit might have been me
