  • Good afternoon all.

I am currently about four months away from SB, having last paid StepChange in March 2020. Things have been relatively
quiet recently, just the odd letter with various discount offers as is the norm although I've been expecting a flurry of contact as SB approaches.

A few days ago however I received a text, mentioning my name, suggesting I log on to a 'myresolvecall' website which has 'important information' for me. There are no details of alleged debts or creditors, no reference numbers and no threats to come knocking. There have also been no letters from anyone threatening to send anybody round.

I'm just wondering if anybody has experienced such a low-key fly-by from Resolvecall, or has any feeling whether it's genuine or a scam? I could be persuaded either way, tbh, but I'm not about to try & log on to find out.

    • I had one like that a few years ago, I don't remember all the details but it was genuine and I got a letter in the post from them some time later saying they had been passed my account from Intrum and we planning to visit me at home.

Thanks Sparkles. I'm away from home at the moment but No.2 daughter has just told me that there's a letter waiting for me from 'Resolve-something', so I suspect it's an escalation. I'll found out at the weekend & report back.

          Hi there,

Had a couple of my debts sent to Resolvecall several months back (I'm intentially not saying which ones) and they sent emails every few weeks with settlement offers of 30-70% which I just ignored.

Don't recall them ever threatening to turn up on the doorstep, though they did for one of the debts several years back, just left a card as we weren't in at the time.

Anyhow, they've now been passed back to the owner (a DCA) who are warning of further recovery action, albeit none of it would involve legal action as they know they don't have all the paperwork.

As for my diary, am about 18 months away from SB and things are nice and quiet on the whole.

I doubt that will continue once we head into the home straight, but let's see.

          Will update as and when.

          Happy Xmas and NY.

PS: While this site is far quieter than in its heyday, I still check in daily for any updates. I imagine quite a few other users are lurking too.

Which is exactly what it turned out to be. 'We have been passed your account for collection' etc. with a 40% discount offer.

              Duly ignored.

              • Night Monkey's Sixth (and possibly final) Annual Report

Now we’re getting there. Six years since we stopped all payments on our alleged debts and I’m calling that Statute Barred, or at least will be at the end of April to give it a comfortable one month cushion from the last payments to StepChange.

Once again, possibly for the last time, here's a summary of where each account is in a single post. As ever feel free to ignore this information, I do it to keep the situation clear for me and it is also joyous to see how quickly the six year mark arrives.

                MBNA
Last full payment early 2018, defaulted October 2018
Payments to StepChange stopped in March ’20.
Standard letters and texts continue, all ignored.
Current owner - PRA Group UK Portfolios Ltd.
Last update was an internal transfer of ownership.
Current status UE since 'varied T&Cs are unavailable.'
                • Not much to report on this one, a few standard prompts at the beginning of 2025 and nothing since.
                Barclaycard
Last full payment early 2018, and defaulted in August 2018.
Payments to StepChange stopped in March ’20.
Current owner - PRA Group UK Portfolios Ltd.
Current status closed due to failed legal action by PRA.
                • Again, no change bar PRA getting a payment for £24, and an internal transfer.

                Santander
Last full payment early 2018, not appearing on credit reports.
Payments to StepChange stopped in March ’20.0
                Current owner - Santander
The last ‘legal’ contact was from drydensfairfax was in February '21. Since then statements and a transfer to ‘Financial Support’, together with a random refund (to the account) of £12.
Current status - UE since a CCA was supplied but it’s a random one not specific to me, with no signature.

                HSBC credit card
Last full payment early 2018, and defaulted in October 2018.
Payments to StepChange stopped in March ’20.
Account sold to Lowell Portfolio I Ltd in May ’23.
Account remains UE pending production of requested CCA. Lowell seem to have pulled back from threatened legal action but Resolvecall in the mix since December ’25, standard letters only.

                HSBC overdraft
Last full payment early 2018, and defaulted in February 2019.
Payments to StepChange stopped in March ’20.
Account sold to Lowell Portfolio I Ltd in May ’23, periodic ‘chasing’ letters received.
Currently UE pending production of the requested CCA.
                • Continuing routine begging letters received throughout the year.
And that, my friends, is that. I didn’t believe the messages when I started this saying that the six years would fly by, but they certainly have done. I can’t say I’m not older or greyer (where it’s possible to be such), but I’m certainly in a better place.

To those that have been with me on this journey - thank you, I couldn’t have done it alone. And if there are any new lurkers here - keep the faith, this too will pass. And say hello…
