Starting this month, HMRC are writing to all letting agents and demanding that they hand over details of all landlords and their rental income information.
Agents have 60 days to respond with information, or face an intial £300 fine, and £60 per day until the information has been given.
This is their attempt to crack down on undeclared rental properties, which is quite an issue for HMRC. And as we all know, is happening quite frequently.
