  • Had an alert from Equifax.

I've had an alert from equifax regarding activity on my CR.

LOWELL PORTFOLIO 1 LTD , a Debt Collector company, has made an inquiry against your credit report on 09/02/2011 . If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact LOWELL PORTFOLIO 1 LTD or Equifax for clarification.
now, i've been in contact with Lowell about a debt they say i owe from an old bank account (debt is made up of charges), the last contact was via e-mail on 10/2.

I've sent them a prove it letter but have not authorised any search on my record. What i should i do about this?
Take it as is, or respond?

Sounds that way doesn't it? But no, I mean it's insignificant as the OC will have assigned it, they(the assignee/dca) can therefore "trace search" you. Sorry dude, you will lose this fight PLUS isn't your credit file already screwed? For at least the next 2yrs...?
