I live 200yds from local xchange; I have an extension that Barratt put in when *they* cut thru the cables and nothing plugged in to my homehub (don't have a traditional type router)! Oh yea I have Vodafone sure signal plugged in via Ethernet.

you should have a consistent 16mb - 16.5mb down so a sync of 17mb-17.5mb would suffice.

unless they have seriously oversold on the contention ratio, which _could_ explain it .

I suppose a bad line is possible, but as said, it is fairly new.

The fact that it has dropped gradually from about 14.5Mb a few years ago to that now makes me think Sky may be 'managing' it gradually down.

you are either 4/5km from the exchange ....
your router is plugged into an extension socket which isn't wired very well.
or you have a serious amount of phones/bits plugged into the 'other' sockets.

failing that you just have a really really shit line :P

what does it say on their site you should be getting? mine is 12.9 - 19 .. but pointed out that I can spit on the exchange so got them to set the line sync up @ their upper limit, which also goes to show that it would handle more but its a limit by sky who needs 21cn \/
