Re: Most used Software free or paid for (or not)

I use Ubuntu 12.04 as main operating system.
Includes Firefox. Thunderbird. Libre office. Shotwell. Ubuntu one cloud and Dropbox.
All free! Plus as many programmes as you can think of all available free in the software centre.
Laptop came with Windows 7 and office 2007 home and student plus lots of other crapware. Soon cleared the lot off!

I think it's shocking that people download things that they shouldn't. They will be avoiding debt next and going BR !

You are tempting me to make sarcastic comments and this is not the thread for it.
Anyway if an O.S is classed as software (sorry Niddy) then i use android on my phone and tablet. Alas only 2.x

ok, I accept semi defeat but please, help with this......

Windows is an OS which is a program, the auto installer that makes it run is known as a 'software program' so if that's the software program what is the actual OS because the way you're speaking would mean that Windows7, for example, is a program software software program

                      Why not?

There are torrents you can try.

That is a legitimate use for a torrent client.

windows 7 / xp etc = system software

pretty much all other stuff = application software

That's exactly what I got. It downloaded, but when I tried to install it asked me to close some start up software and I hadn't a clue what it was on about.
