    Hi hun

No, my kitchen appliances are built in (integrated behind door units) . I did uses to have a combined dryer/washer but was some years ago, so its all separate now. x

Our washer packed up in the new year too, must be something about washers lol ours is only 3 yrs old but is used daily due to the extra washing mother creates due to incontinence anyway the brushes in the motor were kaput so got them from buyspares who were ultra quick delivery but still did not work so checked the pump and turns out the carbon deposits the brushes create got into the pump so ordered one of them from buyspares again ultra quick next day delivery and bobs your uncle or fixed and working.

I recommend buyspares they are very good

            Great news Pompey.

Unfortunately mine is not repairable due to the fire, all the wires literally burnt, but I checked a few out, just wondering whether to go back to a standalone rather than the built in one now lol x

                  Thank you SA Gold
I never want an experience like that again lol!

I've never made a claim through house insurance before but still waiting to hear back from them, I assume it may take some time. They did receive the photo's by email a few days ago, and as its in hubby's name, so he gave them his moby number as well.
We do have to pay between £100 to £150 excess fees.

Shall keep you all posted, thank you all x

                    Re: Washing machine fire

I have never once made a claim for anything on the house insurance, (just ppi reclaims lol) so they had better pay out or look out!!

So with that, I wondered if anyone knows what happens if you have made a claim on house insurance before due to incidents etc, and if they choose their own dept for me to replace the machine or if they sent a gift card or the money??

There should be something in the policy documents on this issue. Most big insurance companies have a deal with Argos, PC World etc so they get wholesale discount prices. I've made loads of claims over the years and I'm always happy to have the insurer provide me with a like-for-like machine (or whatever 'thing' I was claiming for) because it usually includes delivery and fitting etc which you could be charged for if you opt for money to buy another replacement machine yourself.

I'm all for the easy option

I wonder whether you could claim for the cost of taking your smalls to the local launderette (service wash obviously ) while you are waiting for the insurance company to settle your claim

                            Thank you Plan B
I dont think it will cover for linen etc, I did see a write up about that on the policy documents.

I shall have to read again in case I missed anything, because we have one saying they will put it under contents and another under buildings because of the machine being integrated (built in), Confused com.

                            Policy doc here x

I have just emailed them, so now waiting a response.
It was 15th Jan last Weds reported and claim made.
Photos were posted 16th last Thurs.

But just came across a write up of timescales from Co op site that I missed earlier.

I emailed the CEO and said we just want an update as we not heard anything like it says in the CO op statement of insurance timescales, also made him aware of my CKD and son with special needs and that we are literally struggling.
He got back within a few mins here:

                                Dear

Thank you for your email below with regard to your experience when trying to make a claim with the Co-operative.
