Re: Not too good news with my packaged reclaim/FOS

Some interesting reads on FOS package account decisions.....

    http://www.ombudsman-decisions.org.uk/

Maybe I should try to find decisions made by my Ombudsman as named on an earlier post lol.

As well as the above link, not sure if any of that will be taken into account though, but the thing is having a mortgage its important to have both both buildings and contents insurance, the mortgage provider also must have details of having this insurance.

Now going back to the Home Emergency Cover that is applied to the Premier Account (although we did not know that then), it ISNT a SERVICE or MAINTAINANCE POLICY, so it wont cover routine home services or domestic appliance breakdowns. Also T&C's apply to this policy, exclusions too etc...

So having Home Emergency Cover would not cover like a cover like Home/Buildings etc, where it was absolutely essential to have this home/buildings cover, as it would also cover more all in all than the home emergency cover.

I do really think with them saying it was more cost effective on the home emergency cover that they should take into account that the home emergency cover does not cover or maintain for all required like as the home/buildings cover....

    Thank you.

I have found the link and the only new updated one i can see of is the University one, the others I am sure were in place, but really not sure if any of them are beneficial for the account (complaint)?
We did use motoring assist as we are (the family) all included on that one, its free for members.

Take a look if you can, and i clicked on the link that takes you to a booklet of the benefits.

    http://www.community-tu.org/what-we-...r-members.aspx

Hubby been with them for well over 14 years or more and still is now.

    Thanks.

Seems that way Niddy, they are not taking into account how the bank wrongly sold the account but pursuaded it was taken (still) by the fact of the pref OD rates and the home cover, even though he did say with lack of info they go by probabilities, but i do not feel they will consider on that.

I will check online "Community union for life" to see what they did come in with as i cant remember all the benefits, thanks for that.

Ok he's still not convinced is he? He thinks you were persuaded.

Please get hubby to find out the info re union cover ASAP - today/tmw if possible. I'll then sort you reply before Tuesday. We need to reiterate and enforce your argument as they're still not quite grasping it by the look of that email.

..........Should I respond to his above email or leave it as it is now? What do you think?

Hubby also reminded me that his union who he is still with now covers for a lot of stuff, he stayed with them and still with them now, but will have to find out what was covered with them.

Re: Not too good news with my packaged reclaim/FOS

As said, its the end of the day and the Adjudicator's email just came in, in response to the email received lol. (oh and name of ombudsman).

    Dear Mr and Mrs

I have noted the points you have made and I understand that this is a difficult situation for you. The amount of information you have provided and the effort you put into this complaint clearly reflect that this is not a cause you take lightly. I would like to assure you that in no way did I intend to question your integrity or cause insult.

When reaching a decision, the role of the adjudicator and at a later point, the ombudsman, is to reach a fair and reasonable decision on the basis of the available information and where this is lacking, on the balance of probabilities. Based on the available information, I felt that it was more likely than not that the preferential overdraft interest rates combined with the Home Emergency cover persuaded you to upgrade the account.

Having read your email of 15 April 2014, I understand that you disagree with this. I confirm again that this and all correspondence has been added to the file to be viewed by the ombudsman. The ombudsman who will review the complaint is Laura Layfield. I would explain that generally, ombudsmen do not directly contact or respond to correspondence from the consumer or business.

The ombudsman will continue her investigation of your complaint from next week. I will of course be in contact if there are any further queries.

    Yours sincerely
