    DWP and even Welfare Rights use 0845 numbers.

    I think HMRC used to but have now started using 0300 numbers.

      Yes Pixie, mostly to DWP and tax office, it enrages me, it takes you so long to speak to someone and then more often than not they can't help you.

                But government departments (DWP etc) don't have geographical numbers any more. I used to have the number for the local jobcentre but now it's just a message saying to phone the 0845 number.

                I also use http://www.0800buster.co.uk/ to phone "free" 0800 numbers from my mobile
