A very remote premise, I'm sure most would agree.
the missile, in my opinion, was likely fired by a pro Russian radical who either didn't recognise the BUK system and fired randomly at a plane or it was done to provoke the reaction we're currently seeing.

Was the USA involved? No chance. This is Russia. It's their MO.

Of course he wasn't - there is simply no way that even a trained sniper could fire, reload, fire, reload and fire again on a moving target in the few seconds Oswald was supposed to have done. His gun was a clunky, old bolt-action rifle left over from WW2 and needed the shooter to take his eye off the target to chamber each round.

The real assassin was fnord John Dillinger, who was living under his alias of John Sullivan and who was stationed in the underpass, armed with a Browning Automatic Rifle fnord.

Re: Malaysia Airlines: Missing Flight MH370

Meant to be crew and passengers on the plane in total I think? Then separatists claimed they had put 280 recovered bodies on that train, and now turns out to be only 200 ish?

              Makes sense.

I imagine a few bodies will never be recovered or identified, simply due to the way the plane broke up, fuel fire on the ground etc etc.

Plus as the separatists probably lack any forensic or experience recovering people their count is likely to be well off in any case.

It will take a while to sort out.

Some bodies would have been vaporized....The fuel tank in the Boeing 777-300ER can hold up to 47888.802749999995 gal.

If you were sat above the wings.....

Re: Malaysia Airlines: Missing Flight MH370

To be honest, with an aeroplane disintegrated at that altitude on the surface it seems a miracle that anything identifiable remains intact.

In reality 35,000 feet is little different to a few 1,000 for the purposes of that. Things quickly reach terminal velocity.

Just likely spread over a larger area that is all.

Nowadays, any elaborate plot is so likely to be uncovered to come back and blow up in a perpetartors face in the worst possible way, that only a complete looney tunes government or people would consider trying it.

As nuts as the Americans can be at times, they are not quite that far gone even now.

The simple answer is nearly always the correct one......

Some of the most interesting parts of the plane -- it's advanced avionics and defenses -- are classified. But the Air Force asserts the two planes are definitely military aircraft, designed to withstand an air attack. Among other things, the plane is outfitted with
electronic counter measures (ECM) to jam enemy radar. The plane can also eject flares to throw heat-seeking missiles off course.

In Washington, officials from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence presented evidence they had gathered on the involvement of the rebels.

"It's a solid case that it's an SA-11 [missile] that was fired from eastern Ukraine under conditions the Russians helped create," said the officials, who requested that their names not be reported.

They said the "most plausible explanation" for the shooting down of the plane was that rebels mistook it for another aircraft.
                        The evidence they presented included:

                        • Satellite images of a facility allegedly used to train rebels near the Russian city of Rostov
                        • Other images purportedly showing a surface-to-air missile launcher in the area
                        • Analysis of voice recordings of pro-Russian rebels apparently admitting bringing the airliner down
                        • Photos and messages from social-media sites pointing to rebel involvement

AN Australian forensic expert says passengers aboard Flight MH17 would not have suffered during their final moments in the air.

University of Canberra adjunct professor David Royds said if the initial blast did not kill the passengers, a rapid decompression and freezing temperatures at 33,000 feet would have caused instant death.

“Flying at more than 10km above the ground, the mid-air explosion would have caused the cabin temperature to drop to minus 50C with a sudden drop of air pressure and loss of oxygen,” he said.

“That extremely cold environment would have rendered the passengers unconscious within seconds.

“It’s very unlikely the passengers would have suffered, there would have been no time to worry.”

Given the choice I'd rather have been be on Flight MH17 than MH 370........... knowing you were going to die by running out of fuel and crashing into the sea....

'The missile is programmed using a tracker to get within a metre of the target then let off a ring of shrapnel, which will enter the aircraft at various points.

'The shrapnel will have hit the wings, the engines and the fuel tanks, igniting the fuel.
'A large aircraft like that is highly pressurised to allow humans to breathe at that altitude so it will have exploded instantly.
