  • FREE GUIDE for Litigants in Person :)

The Bar Council has published a free guide for LIPs in the wake of the Legal Aid cuts introduced yesterday. The useful part starts on Page 9 of the PDF:

    http://live.barcouncil.netxtra.net/m...online_use.pdf

It covers various aspects of going to court including Employment Tribunals, Housing Law, Bankruptcy law, Personal Injury claims and Family Law as well as county court proceedings for debts:

Paul's guides for civil litigation on AAD are better though

Where is this country going, uh? Bedroom tax, benefit cuts and caps and now also no legal aid! I've heard somewhere about the end of no-win-no-fee agreements. So now the ones who need it the most are left with no money and no chance of legal representation.

I heard that too. I think the idea is to squash people claiming whiplash from accidents, tripping over things etc.
When Gold isn't enough, there is SA Gold! New to the forum and find the UE route a bit scary? Take a look at my diary here and judge for yourself. I am now saving the money each month that was making little difference to the balance and not a bit of difference to my credit file as a result of finding AAD.

Yes, the law seems to focus on personal injury which is an area that saw a lot of growth in the past decade or so due to conditional fee arrangements, to the point this country was close to becoming like America, where everybody is suing everybody.

But the reforms will have an effect on people being sued by their creditors and their solicitors, even when this wasn't the intention. As with many of the government's programs and ideas, they are never thought through. The decisions are always made by people who are out of touch with reality.

Was looking at that guide earlier and it is an excellent guide, because it covers many areas of the law, including family law and employment tribunals. At some point or other, we all need a guide like that.
