Dad, if any MSE was actually any good, the computer would not have become infected in the first place, im running comodo on all 3 computers that I have in my bedroom, and guess what? I havn't had a single infection.

MSE was unable to even function with the infection you have.

LOL ok but it's certainly better than MSE lets face it, if Microsoft were any good with virus protection windows would be immune to all attacks, or at least better with dealing with them, like for example, Linux? Pretty hard to infect a Linux system.

No mate, you're using a AV protection tool that is built by the same people that build the OS thus it will always beat any third party AV.

MSE is quite simply the best and I defy you to prove otherwise - the reason he probably got infected is because no matter what set-up or protection you use, some things are just too bloody good.

Put it this way, I have 5 laptops at home and never once had a virus..... all using Win7 and all using MSE. I have a 17 year old daughter that lives on dodgy download sites - point proven mate.

Sorry you'll never convince me that comodo (lol) is better than MSE - it isn't - fact!

anyway, i'm not here to discuss the finer points of AV - My opinion is not to use a third party one, that is only MY opinion.

Back to the issue, ok being you studied IT sort your dads PC, good lad.

Unless your son sorts it first so keep us updated. You've also been advised by rizzle that comodo ain't any good, I'd seriously heed our warnings mate. I know you're getting conflicting advice but I'm only going on my experiences and as an ex norton man, MSE really does work IF installed at OS install stage (on a clean virus free HDD).

Trust me. It does.

Keep us updated and clarify if you need me to ask Steve to get involved.

I think if Steve can connect remotely to my PC that will be best all round and get this sorted once and for all as it's doing my head in.
