Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
Bumped into a neighbour across the road from me last night, had just arrived back from Turkey earlier in the day, he said the feeling around the resort area and beach he was staying at was one of unease, no one knows where the isis scum will hit next, very sad state of affairs when you have waited all year for your holiday and then have to be fearful for your life which is exactly what they want everyone to be scared of....
This "war" is not going to be over anytime soon that's for sure, what chance have we got when we can't even identify the enemy !

worked along side many Arabs decades ago in the Yemen, they are a mix of good/bad same as anywhere on this planet, did find work with some during the day but found out later fighting some of them during the night - strange world, overall the majority of people were just everyday people.

I've never been to Tunisia but it must be awful for the Tunisian people to face ruin because of the mindless ISIS attack.

Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
Just from another perspective, my son in law is Tunisian, his family live in sousse. We are devastated, their life's are changed forever due to this mindless attack! We are so worried for them, Isis have pledged to continue their terror attacks on the Tunisian people (they are seen as too liberal). There is a very big part of my that wants to book flights to prove they cannot frighten me but then the reality hits! Houss's family acknowledge that they are a target as they have welcomed a westerner into their family. Han and houss feel they would be putting his whole family at greater risk if they were to visit houss is so worried for his country, he feels his brother and sister now have no future but cannot leave, it would be virtually impossible to get them visas now. He worries as the economy crumbles Isis will take hold as so many youngsters become disenfranchised, they fight under the guise of religion but no Tunisian Muslim I have ever met supports them or their philosophies it's just one big horrible mess.
tunisia is a beautiful country full of wonderful people who through no fault of their own face ruin

Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
We've been keeping up with the news on this . My son's holiday is next May 4th , and the travel agents have stopped all bookings until 31st October this year so we still don't know what will happen with his holiday . Personally i would rather him go to Malta we have family there and it is safer in my opinion maybe because i am familiar with Malta .

Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
Bare in mind the risk of attack is no higher than here in the UK. However I guess the question is where would you rather be in the event of one.

Looks like Tunisia is definitely now off anyones holiday destination plans with the foreign office advising only urgent travel there now, looks like they may have intelligence suggesting further attacks are likely ...

After seeing the armed horse back riders on the beach and the added security i would feel safe now but i still reckon i would be sunbathing with one eye open .

I wish governments would stop talking and get on with it.

Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
Nowhere can be totally secure be it on a holiday beach or walking through your local shopping mall...but no way can the civilised world allow these radicals to have decent people running scared, the nazi's tried it (twice) and we survived, have we changed these days do we not want a safe world for our children, and our childrens children to grow up in....sooner resorces are made available for military intervention the better...Originally posted by Spent2much View PostPersonally i don't mind letting the terrorists win i couldn't relax on that beach now , but i guess people are all different my son certainly is . I just can't see how they can make the resort secure after this .
