Re: Tunisia and cancelling holiday just booked
Try not to worry, who knows what will have happened in the world by next May! There is so much going on with ISIS that will probably have been some sort of military intervention by the west.
The only way that the terrorists will believe they have won is when they have eradicated all other beliefs and freedom and imposed their way of life on the world. They are not fighting for Islam, just their own corruption of it. Once they have North African beaches they will try to gain control of France and Spain and on it will go.

Here's a list of the policy providers which do, and the ones which don't.
If he's hell bent on going there next year at least he will have cover in the event of a Red Alert situation >

Check the contract's Ts & Cs.Originally posted by Spent2much View PostMy son booked a holiday in the resort that has just been terrorised on Thursday , paid a deposit for next May .
Can he get his deposit back he paid it on his credit card ?
Since the trip is almost a year away he may be able to cancel it with only a small admin fee of around £25 depending on the operator's cancellation policy. A lot will depend on whether it's a packaged holiday or whether the flight and hotel were booked separately by an agent.
This is what the CAB has to say >

I'd stay clear of any Arab countries. Not because of the locals but because of what could happen. Let's not forget resent past has seen rioting in Tunisia also, on a massive scale.
My son has booked for next May so i don't think the travel agents will pull their holidays for that long but i am praying they will because i don't want him to go . It's sick this because they haven't' had a holiday since 2009 and they were really excited about finally booking and then the very next day this terror attack happened. He isn't doing anything about it at the moment and said he isn't cancelling unless the travel agents recommend it .

Thanks, Cym.
Did stay in a hotel in Cairo a few years ago and all entrances were well policed, as were all the excursions.
Will stop being a mother-hen - if I can!

So far the resorts on the Red Sea have been safe and are well policed. They are lovely and great value

Good point, Pixie. My son and his family are booked to go to Sharm-el-Sheik at October half-term. They won't listen to me (did he ever??) but I hope that the tour operators will monitor the situation and advise of any imminent danger.Originally posted by Pixie View PostI don't blame you for worrying S2M. What's happened in Tunisia is terrible. I'd wait for the Foreign Office guidelines though they'll probably be geared towards people who have booked for this summer. Personally I wouldn't book to go to any country that might be a target for ISIS, presumably arab/muslim countries such as Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt etc.
You can't help feel for the poor people and their families - plus other holidaymakers who witnessed this horror. Imagine explaining that to your kids!

Thousands of British holidaymakers are fleeing Tunisia in the aftermath of the beach resort massacre that left dozens of tourists dead.
