ESA and unpaid work

Can anyone tell me what the rules are about ESA and unpaid work.
I am on ESA wrag I think (lower rate 99.15 PW) and have been told by someone else that i am required to do some unpaid work. Will that affect my ESA and how many hours/days work could I do (if any)

If its unpaid then its volunteering and i cant see it being a reason to effect any benefit entitlement.

In fact is it not encouraged to volunteer whilst on ESA?
