Due to this being so widespread I don't think the Americans will let it be swept under the carpet. I can see many there suing Barclay's and the rest. They love a good court battle.

Their underhanded, greedy, criminal dealings seem to be never-ending. Just read the FSA are investigating the specialist insurance paid to small businesses.

Another problem is establishing those responsible especially if the practice has been widespread - which one of them would you put in prison - all of them - some of them - one of them? I know I'd put them all in! Also, I would like to see the courts take account of 'social harm' but how can you quantify this?

I agree with you there 925pws.....I mean what happened about the Iraq war inquiry when Tony Blair and others were being questioned...and then there is the big Murdoch enquiry......at the moment what has happened to Barclays is hot stuff all over the place...just waiting to see how long it takes for this scandal to fade in the background.

Unless I am proved wrong.....and action is taken against all the wrong people involved.

The buck stops at the top Bob Diamond goes to Pentonville as far as I'm concerned where he can share a cell with RBS' Stephen Hester

Can I throw Tony Blair in that cell too? Anyone else? This virtual cell is getting a little cramped

I really find it difficult to see how lying about libor can be legal, but it does seem like so many things in UK finance in the past it's all made of bets ,promises ,guesses and lies

In the USA it is illegal though and I can see some big payouts coming, but the funny thing is the pay outs will go to other banks and it will damage ours making our financial lives worst

I think Pentonville is too nice for people like this...maybe somewhere like Transylvania? and let the count deal with them...as they have been sucking blood out of so many for so long...maybe its about time they got sucked to....

sorry....that does sound a bit too x rated especially this time of the morning...but I have been up since 4.30 sorting out my own crisis so its fine...xx

This man is my hero. I cried when I watched his documentary shown on Channel 4 which showed a man who had his farm repossessed by GMAC after 30 years because his mortgage interest rate rocketed. To add insult to injury GMAC was so busy foreclosing on homes that they didn't have enough bailiffs to evict people so they sent him a cheque for $1,000 and told him to use it for the removal.

Michael Moore is my inspiration and he's the man who started Occupy Wall Street.

I hope this link works because often when I post it the link mysteriously gets blocked. I wonder who's doing that . . .

Here, I have just seen a job ad for debt collectors for Robinson Way Limited Chase Solutions & Home Collections.

They are looking for people all over NI. Must be getting geared up for calling on me

                              Wonder if I should apply

Re: Homeowners could sue Barclays for Libor fiddle even without clear proof it pushed up

What is infuriating about this, is the number of times the banks have played the 'moral' card when it comes to things like debt, UE, PPI etc.

As far as I'm concerned that is it when it comes to the banks, they have shown themselves to be lower than morally bankrupt. I don't dispute that they will have some decent employees but the outrageous behaviour shown this week comes from the top down.

The fact that the top brass don't have the decency to step down for me now means no more mr nice guy. I am tempted now to say screw the banks and not pay another penny on any of my debts even those not UE.

Its one thing getting in debt through changing circumstances. Its another thing to manipulate entire markets to sate your own greed.

However we are expected to have a 'moral duty' to pay back the debts we find ourselves in, yet the bankers can behave like this, not get prosecuted, keep their jobs, and continue to award monumental bonuses that the majority of us will have to work our entire lifetimes to achieve. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

                                Rant Over..............

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."

The consumer is that sleeping giant.!!
