The 1st one was always Barclaycard, I’m not 100% about the second.

I did have an Amazon MasterCard that changed hands, but I can’t remember if that became a (now repaid) MBNA card or the Barclaycard (2) that still has a balance.

You can stop the calls, for example i used Sky Screen no more phone calls. Mobiles are a pain as when you block them they leave you a voicemail without it ringing. I just called my mobile firm and asked for a new number. Your be surprised how nice it is when they cant ring you anymore.

        Hi guys,

So, I've stuck my head in the sand for a long time with these debts and need to get on top of things.

I've just had a letter of claim from PRA group for 1 of the debts, who now own the debt.

Type of account – Barclaycard Credit Card (1)
        Date commenced - 2001
        Approx balance - £7,500
Date last paid – Jan 2021
Are you on arrangement or not paying – No contact made since last payment
        Status - Active
        Account owner - PRA.

I haven't sent a CCA for this debt. Do I need to reply to the LBC or can I send a CCA now? I'm pretty nervous about the prospect of a CCJ.

        Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply and advice.
So, ignore the letter before claim?
I guess I'm pretty anxious about receiving a letter from the courts!

Roger didn't say ignore it, he said contact Colin for best advice from a legal defence standpoint. You ought to do that without delay.

                    Hi,

I have received your reply. I'll ask my colleague Gerry to give you a call, hopefully this afternoon, to explain your options etc. That advice is always free.

Thanks to Gerry for speaking to me about this.

Need to have another think about the best way to move forward on this one and if/how to respond, but slightly less anxious about what may come next, either way!

There has been a change in AAD advice on receiving a LBC.
Tactics come into consideration and hence the suggestion to seek legal advice!

Having been absent on here for too long, I've been trawling through other diaries to get a bit more up to speed on everything.

I haven't made contact with any of my creditors since I ceased payments around a year ago. I haven't CCA'd any of my creditors to date. While I understand better the position on responding to LBCs, is it arguably better to sit tight on sending CCA's for the other debts (ie ones that aren't currently threatening action)?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I will update my diary properly (regarding contact from DCA's etc) in the coming days.

                            Appreciate the help!

If creditors are not making any threatening noises I would suggest not initiating any correspondence. I'm sure they would love to get into a dialogue with you, but don't do it.

In the meantime your updated diary on all accounts would give the forum a better picture of the current state of play. A properly maintained diary is the first step in getting back on top of things, and saves a lot of worry in the long run.

There is no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to AAD or dealing with Creditors/Debts - Knowledge is power and there are a wealth of knowledgeable and helpful people on here who have been where you are now and come out the otherside too, So never be afraid to ask

I can see that others on here have given you some very sound advice with regard to dealing with Creditors and of course representatives from JCS Solicitors regarding your recently received LBC from PRA. Regarding the LBC, You are in very safe hands with JCS. They have assisted me and many other members in the past and were fantastic. I would advise you to listen to their advice.

In many ways, not making contact with creditors for around a year is a very good thing, The old addeage of letting sleeping dogs lie is definately the way to go and something I would continue with if it were me.

It would be the traditional way to send any CCA requests earlier on in the interactions so that you had a clearer view of how each account was unfolding BUT, As you have not sent them, I would certainly NOT reccomend sending them now on spec - Sit tight and see what comes next. If you start to get correspondance from creditors, Post up here on your diary and members will assist

The trick is to not prompt creditors into action if they are leaving you alone and to respond correctly if they start making contact

All in all, Your seem to be doing a really good job of lying low at the minute - Long may that continue
