Then she complains about having to do everything herself.

Nooo, but the Mayhew thing (or anything to do with storecards) results in question No.1 being - "was this ever a store to credit card" - we nev er miss it, as it's such an awesome judgment to have at our (the debtors) disposal

I'd love another case like that, so Paul can let rip a second time... but sadly me thinks they may have calmed down a wee bit now (on issuing claims)

Yes i understand, but are you sure there is not a little bit it of a territorial thing going on here(perhaps not).

Anyway I agree this was a great idea and it does seem to work, I suppose the business man in me automatically want a good idea rolled out and its potential maximized.

I read about the mahew judgment and it was a good win, has there been other similar ones since ?

this can never be a "business" this is peoples lives

getting involved in "business" was where MSE and CAG went sadly wrong
          and
getting involved in "business" was where a lot of us went wrong as well

Territorial thing? Between Paul & Me?

God no, I have the utmost respect for Paul and he knows that. If he suggested something that would benefit the forum or users then I would let him implement it, he is site team and has a huge say in where and what direction we go.

That said, we actually have healthy disagreements - he is legal trained and thus tells you things as they are. I on the other hand don't, I will butter things up and try and keep you calm then hit you with the bad news when I feel you're ready to handle it - so yes, we work slightly differently in how we approach certain things but for the same respect we both want the same outcome.

It's how we reach that outcome that differs. Paul will always say never ignore a letter and will always say where possible write a letter and don't use templates - of course he'll say that, he has to and he is right. However for newbies it really isn't that simple so we have templates.

Hope you can see, we do work together and speak a lot to try and gauge what is best for the forum and users, and we did discuss this automated process which Paul will (time dependant) help us collate the data for the program to operate.

Give us time, we will get there this year - lots going on behind the scenes as well.

As MrsD points out above, I don't want a business - I have enough of those that take enough of my time - this is a user forum where we simply want to help users. Why do you think we don't have silly ad-banners all over the site or links to pay day loans etc? Cos I fund the forum. Me.

It's never meant to be a business nor do we want it to turn into one

No you misunderstand, i would not want this to be profitable in the business sense, however being successful and being able to help as many people as possible is not I believe contrary to the aims of this forum.

Indecently this is why we( me and many others) stopped posting on CAG in 07 the benefits to the user seemed to be shifting to a benefit for Mr G, this is not what i mean at all.

I understand what you mean, but AAD is successful at what it does, obviously we'd like to help more but remember what I said above, our posters have to want to help themselves as well, we never turn anyone away.

Yes as you say above, and of course knowledge is the key to helping yourself

The knowledge is here, for all to read BUT no need in asking them from day 1 to do it all as they will make mistakes, trust me.

Hence we do it for them, teaching them and letting them do their own thing which allows them time to settle in, learn, deal with their own debts then help others.

That's all we've ever been about. We do want to users to do it themselves, but as a newbie we hold your hand.

You mean when he said he'd help you reclaim from the banks (the doomed OFT bank charges case from 2009) but then wanted a percentage (half wasn't it) of your reclaim as a success fee kinda thing? I just remember when the test case failed, loads of CAGgers turned nasty - but then I suppose they had a right after all they were *guaranteed* a victory weren't they....

Reclaim from the banks....that is still the first response you get from a certain person over there. If you want to get banned you just ask HOW

On the subject of template letters i have just received one from credit security, their last letter was saying they were coming to nick my doorstep so i wrote back saying no you aint.
Today they wrote saying they had kindly put my account on hold but couldn't do that any longer , so I have replied with a no you havent, this was your last letter and this was mine and the account is still being disputed so go away and don't send me template letters

Yep, and can you imagine my joy when after five years I went to log on and found that it would be easier to use the forum to apply for a payday loan, the very thing I had been fighting against for the last three years.
The term "sell out" does not begin to cover it, don't get me started.

Oh I know..... I was gobsmacked when I logged in to see a Wonga ad right at the top of the forum, which was obviously an affiliate link but then when I went to log-in, I was banned. No reason, nothing.

Ahh well, that's why they're nobodies that rely on funding from MSE Charity, really.
