      My overdrafts...

I had a current account with the Halifax for a good number of years and had always been fairly happy with them, however I suddenly got a letter saying that from November they would be charging £5 a day for O/D useage! My OD wasn't that big and for the first coupleof months of the year I never used it but as the year dragged on the overdraft went up and there was no way I could afford to be in the red as it could be costing me an additional £100 a month for this luxury (o and by using your over draft it didn't matter if it was £1 over drawn or £1,000... go figure.

So i changed my bank account to a basic one with the co-op and left my halifax one as it was (wasn't going to rush myself to inform them as they could just carry on charging themselves! I was even asked on one occasion when I rang up to pay my Halifax Credit card, would i just like to pay the arrears from my overdraft... yeah why not what the hell... (of course I never did that)

Finally the penny dropped and halifax realised that my salary was not being paid into my account and I sent off my usual letter with my income and expenditure sheet - I think my budget said I sould pay them something like £10 a month so I upped that to £35 which they are happy with and all charges and interest has been frozen - soooo and I am watching that amount of debt going down monthly.

Now just the Alliance and Leicester joint account with the ex... that is another story!

        Hiya

Have you had all charges, including the £5 per month charges refunded - even better, have you tried to reclaim them? If not, time to speak to me.....

Regards A&L - they'd not have been used to a Niddy special so it'll be getting looked at by Sue or Thomas in compliance..... wait and see, they will say ok or will say sod off - go ahead punks, make my day! ;LOL

Just ignore them...... they must respond to your letter, it was formal remember so they have 28 days to reply or issue final response, if not we'll move to the next stage - bear in mind this is the worst UK bank ever, we're speaking about. You know the one, that takes 5 weeks to have a replacement PIN sent, for example..... 2

                    hiya sunny

hoping all continues to go well, i had tried the self dmp a couple of years ago but although i got some companies agreeing only to six months, it was the way i was treated that flipped me over to looking at the unenforceable route - my attitude now is that once they provide the correct paperwork and niddy and the gang here says its fine and above board i wil start negotiating a payment plan with them, until then, let the statute clock keep running, I have personal experience of the other side of bank accounts and credit opening and thus understand that the law states correct paperwork to be kept etc, if the original creditor has chosen to ignore this then they face the consequence of being questioned by me for the paperwork.

My file is shot , thus not intending to get any more credit via banking, but i do have my credit union as a way into getting myself sorted for the future.

i think its a bit of a personal adventure and you have to do what is best for you and your family, so i really hope its working fine for you and that you can sort any other issues in your best interests. Good Luck,

Me, im a bit of a rebel and i will fight as i believe its the better option for me and my family take care MAZ 2

Hey Nid (from the pool) just heard from the ex mr looloo (great holiday reading) but Santander are now constantly calling him. I've told him to ignore calls until I am back and I will do him a letter about only contacting him in writing. Is that ok?? I'm assuming I might have a letter waiting for me when I get back.
