Have put this here as it is where you would go of you found out your medical records have been sold after opt out.

This is nothing more than an action to give private phamacutical companies greater control and if a hospital needed to know what medication you was on you just take it or a prescription list in as you do now.

There is always a risk when you share information. Some of the diseases you get can be indicative of lifestyle and you may not want them to be broadcast. However data has always been shared, but today it is much more accessible and quicker.

Although I would not like some of my medical details to be spread around, I know that in hospitals ward staff have often giggled at the fact that Mr or Mrs So and So are not as clean as they make out, and shaken the skeleton in the cupboard. In a small town privacy is non-existent. However, in the current climate there are insufficient Civil Servants to analyse the medical data as they have all been made redundant, so the next best thing is for limited data to be made available to pharmaceutical companies for them to analyse and perhaps work out that people without tonsils are more likely to suffer from osteoporosis. It took decades for them to make a link between streptomycin and deafness - lucky me that I know the cause, perhaps there are 10000s that have avoided it.
