Another way to proceed would be to pay for someone to fix the set - having chosen the lowest of three quotes, to minimise one's losses - and sue the Poxmania spivs for the cost of that repair.
They would try and defend it based on "average wear and tear" however as we all know, you can never tell how a judge will react to such things!

I agree, another option would be to fix it and charge them for it, however why should she have to? It is the retailers responsibility - not Diddly's....

        Re: Diddly's fight with Pixmania.......

Bearing in mind that they are offering a full refund if I can have an engineer confirm it is "not fit for purpose", would this seem like a satisfactory resolution? Is an engineer likely to be able to make such a statement?

You will get one from the Toshiba Service Centre, so contact the manufacturer first and explain it to them and they will then sort it for you.....

Usual cost ranges from £70 - £150. Best of luck

Quick question; sorry to be a pain!!!! Would the manufacturer of the TV not be biased and unlikely to state "unfit for purpose" when they made the blummin' thing ???

Actually no, as if you then went to an independant and they disagreed, they would then be unfit as an approved engineer. Basically, in case you never knew, these engineers are dedicated to (or tied to) certain brands, they are ALL freelance and thus no, they'll be honest as it also helps the brand retain value by finding solutions to such possible claims in the future

                You will be fine....

Copied and pasted my darling...... what you see is what they sent!!!

Right, back to topic. Spoke with Toshiba who were really helpful and friendly and even chatted with me to see if they could work out what the problem was in case they could offer an over the phone fix. Unfortunately they couldn't assist, so they gave me the number for my local approved engineer. After a brief chat with him, he thinks that the panel has failed; which would be an uneconomic repair (apparently replacing costs the same as a new TV).

He will happily inspect and do a report for £120.00, so I'm off to see him on Friday.
Fortunately, they are in Walsall, so whilst they are some distance from me, they are near Ikea...... meatballs here I come!

OMG I cannot beleive they sent you an email in Cominc Sans - when you send one back do it in the same and add lots of smilies and icons all over it!

Good luck with it all! it is a joke!

Ooooooooo meatballs - get me some too please!
