I've a feeling, them treating it like its gone round the clock could be the source of the problem
It's taken years of hard work to earn the capital N in Numpty

I noticed that as soon as they start using estimates instead of readings, the bills begin to increase. But there is no reason why it would effect the actual meter usage. They actually caused me to lose my business at one point. A sunbed shop, so when they disconnected it there was noway I could stay open. I fought for about 6 months to get them to see they had made a mistake somewhere but could not even see where myself. Then a further 8 months down the line they had the cheek to send me a letter that told me I wasn't in £6k of debt it was £250 in credit. So I had lost my lively hood because apparently they had been treating the readings as that from a 5 digit meter, which it was and the meter reader had been giving them the four digits and the one in red as if it was 5 digits . 0, this meant the bills where 10 x what they should of been. Which is why I guess in the reply they said I had a history of contesting my energy bills they fail to mention that I was in the right to do so....

          Re: British Gas Electricity Charges.

I couldn't get on line until now because the stupid mouse is wireless and it ran out of batteries. I did get a few minutes here and there after warming them up on the radiator and then finally out of desperation I gave them a bit of a chew with some plies (extra 20 mins of power } So now is I'm going to the links that Niddy gave me....

I got a card hand delivered last night, when I was hiding behind the curtain. It is from Power 2 contact. Regarding the £6038.01 in arrears British gas (electric). It has been face 2 face that have dealt with it in the past. It gives 24 hour to avoid any further action. What do I do?

The amount of usage they are claiming is def similar to someone growing huge amounts of cannabis plants.

Are you sure there are no hidden wires leading to another house where your electric is being tapped into?

You say you were being sent estimates, but im also guessing the actual meter reading wasnt that much different to the estimates, otherwise they could have easily sorted it by coming round and reading the meter.

I must admit, i cant for the life of me understand how a meter can read such levels of usage if its not actually being used.

Are you absolutely sure no one has been tapping your supply?

And are you absolutely sure you havent got some grow den your not telling us?

Please dont feel insulted by my questions, personally, we will help you whatever the answer is, we dont judge, but i have to ask.

Exactly what happend to me when i moved in to my new house, they kept taking the readings as five digits when it was 4, we explained on the phone and they wouldnt believe us, we insisted it was the case, and in the end they agreed to replace the meter, and start again.

Apprently the old owners couldnt read numbers properly and gave them greatly over inflated figures, which ment we was actually in credit not debit, as they had been over charged.
