  • Tips on Cooking Ye Olde Turkey!!

    What are your tips on Cooking Ye Olde Turkey!!

    How long per kilo do you cook it for?
    What heat on a fan assisted oven?
    Baste or not Baste?

    We all have our ways of doing it, what's your way? (Deepie and Vos I mean cooking/preparing the turkey! )

    Cook turkey breast down, It keeps the breast nice and moist

                    Having said that, I get my ex-MIL to cook it as it we all go to her house for Christmas dinner

                    We all help out with buying/making the rest of it though...

                    BTW Deepie, I cook chicken upside down too, for exactly the reason you quoted.

                      i just have a crown - desn't take long - i normally stuff under the skin with butter and herbs keeps it all lush and moist

                              I spatchcocked my turkey last year, and it cooked in half the time. Was a right nightmare to do, mind, but worth it me thinks. It takes up less room in the oven, as it isn't so "tall" so you can cook other stuff at the same time.
